Join the library and our special dog friend for a morning of book reading and crafts. Trained therapy dog will be in the children’s section waiting for you to come read to her! Animal themed crafts will be provided while supplies last. Children can register to be the readers and the dog will be their audience! In fact, children will be able to select their own library book to read to a dog (or bring one from home) and the dog will listen and be entertained. Registration is required. That’s a wrap, folks! The library will be closed through Memorial Day weekend and will reopen Tuesday, May 26, while we get brand-new carpet installed.

This week, our amazing library team moved thousands of books into storage to get everything ready. Be sure to give them a big thank-you when we reopen—and come check out our fresh new floors!

Today is the last day to pick up holds, check out and return items. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 26. The outdoor drop box will be closed. Please return items to other libraries in Allegheny County or keep them until the 26th.

🚨Green Tree Public Library will be closed for carpet installation May 14 - 23 🚨

What you should know for the closure:
• May 13 is the last day to pick up holds, check out and return items.
• The outdoor book drop will be closed from May 14 - 25.
• From May 6 - 21, Green Tree will not be available as a hold pickup location.
• Patrons can change the hold pickup location for existing hold items to another library location, if preferred.
• Phone service will not be monitored during the closure.
• On May 11 - 13, services will be limited as we move the collection and equipment into storage.
• On May 26, services will be limited as we move the collection back to the shelves.

It's a flower shop...in the library! Browse through buckets of paper posies and pick your favorites. Then, using markers, crayons, or colored pencils, color your blooms to build a beautiful bouquet you can keep forever. If you're looking for a gift for Mother's Day or to celebrate spring, stop in anytime during library service hours between Wednesday, May 6 and Saturday, May 9 (or until supplies run out). Free and open to all ages!

Beginning Friday, May 1, 2026, Allegheny County libraries are instituting a Daily Spending Cap on Hoopla. The spending cap is a dollar amount limit the library sets which, once reached, pauses checkouts until the next day. The day restarts at midnight local time.

We know this may be a big and frustrating change for many of our loyal Hoopla users. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
