When Lupita was diagnosed with leukemia, treatment kept her from celebrating an important milestone: her quinceañera.

When she was referred to Make-A-Wish®, she knew she wanted a chance to enjoy the quinceañera she had missed out on during treatment. For Lupita, the quinceañera was more than a party. It was a celebration of family, culture and tradition.

Dressed in a pink ballgown and tiara, Lupita entered her party smiling from ear to ear. She spent the evening dancing with loved ones, enjoying her favorite foods and celebrating alongside her community.

"You could see she felt like a princess," said her mom, Yolanda.

As we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, we're celebrating wish stories like Lupita's that honor the traditions, cultures and communities that help shape who we are.

Every wish we grant starts with a child being referred to us by their family or medical team. Because Make-A-Wish cannot solicit a child directly for a wish, that means we need YOUR help to reach every eligible child with a life-changing wish. 🫵🏽

This , we're feeling thankful for WaterSide Campground & RV Park, which has been fundraising for wishes every year since 2013. 🙌

The staff and campers took this year's Wish Weekend to a whole new level— raising $10,000 to fully fund two life-changing wishes! 🌠 Over the weekend of July 31 through Aug. 1, they raised money in their signature fashion, through a variety of creative activities, including:

🧺 Raffles of baskets and gift cards
🍕 Pizza and stromboli sales
🚶🏼 A walk-a-thon
⛳ Golf cart washes
⭐ Paper star sales
🪙 Coin drives
🎟️ Rip tickets
🥧 A bake sale and more!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. 🎗️ Kids across our chapter are fighting every day to have a normal childhood amidst a cancer diagnosis, and receiving a wish is often the turning point that gives them the hope they need.

Today, we honor not just a country music icon, but a humanitarian who touched the lives of so many— especially children.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐶✨

Research shows that dogs help reduce stress and anxiety, ease feelings of loneliness, encourage physical activity and instill a sense of purpose. For these reasons, they're the perfect companion for a child who is fighting a critical illness. 🐕

We love seeing wish kids bond with their fur-ever friends, and knowing the years of comfort, companionship and unconditional love they'll bring long after the wish is granted.

Happy ! Check out this wish from last week:

Because of her heart condition, "Faith has been through more in three years than most will ever experience in an entire lifetime," says her mom, Angela. Despite this, Faith has lots of energy and she loves to run and climb and play outside with her sisters. 🤸🏼‍♀️✨ So, when she qualified for a wish, she wanted a place where she could do all those things in a space that would be hers for years to come.

To make her wish a reality, we enlisted Mr. Handyman of Northern Pittsburgh, South Hills, Moon, who went completely above and beyond to make Faith's playhouse perfect. They donated their time and labor, as well as the shingles, and they recruited the Sherwin-Williams in Mt. Nebo Pointe to donate the beautiful "Jaipur Pink" paint.

The result is better than we could have imagined, and we are so excited for Faith and her sisters to spend countless hours making memories and just enjoying childhood in her special playhouse. 🩷🏡
