We are stomping into a summer full of reading, dinosaurs, prizes, programs, archaeology, paleontology, and prehistoric fun for ALL ages! 📚✨

Join the 2026 Summer Reading Program and read books to earn awesome prizes all summer long!

🦴 Kids & teens can:
• Choose prizes from the Treasure Hut
• Earn FREE swim passes to the Pittsburg Aquatic Center
• Sign up in Youth Services or online anytime during the program

Pittsburg Public Library will be closed for Memorial Day weekend from Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25. Regular hours will resume at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26.

While you’re enjoying the long weekend, get ready to Unearth a Story at the Library this summer! 🦖📚 Summer Reading Programs for kids, teens, and adults begin soon, with free events, prizes, Story Times, crafts, movies, and more all summer long.

Kids and teens can now sign up online, and our full Summer Reading calendar is available on the website. Most programs begin the first week of June!

We can’t wait to spend the summer reading, exploring, and making memories with you. Enjoy the holiday weekend, friends! ☀️

Do you have a collection of “good boxes” you just can’t throw away? You know the ones. The tiny gift box. The sturdy candle box. The box that’s “too nice to toss.” 📦✨

Well…today is your moment to shine! Join us for an iCraft Open House this afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. as we try the art of decoupage — a fun and creative technique using paper, glue, and a little imagination to transform ordinary objects into works of art. Bring along your favorite little boxes, and let’s make something fun together! Small wooden boxes also work well!

iCraft is a free program open to those in 6th grade through adult. No registration is required. We’ll provide the supplies, plus coffee and music to keep you crafting. We hope to see you there! 😊

It’s a beautiful, sunny day in SEK! ☀️🌿 That means it’s the perfect time to swing by the Library and pick up the Community Spice of the Month!

May’s featured spice is Oregano, paired with a fresh and flavorful Tomato Bruschetta recipe that tastes like summer on toast. 🍅🥖

Each month, Chef Heather Lynn Horton of TOAST creates an easy, delicious recipe designed especially for home cooks. We are so grateful for Heather’s creativity, generosity, and continued partnership in making this community program possible. 💛

Spice packets and recipes are available at both the Pittsburg Public Library and the Frontenac Public Library, while supplies last.
