I have been asked several times whether we are currently under a burn ban. At this time, we are not.

However, with the dry conditions and steady winds we’ve been experiencing, burning right now simply may not be a good idea.

The more important question isn’t, “Can we burn?” — it’s “Should we burn?”

If burning is absolutely necessary please:

• Use extreme caution
• Monitor weather and wind conditions closely
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep water and fire-control equipment nearby
• Make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving

Remember, you are responsible not only for protecting your property, but also for the safety of your neighbors and OUR entire community.

Let’s all do our part to prevent unnecessary fires and keep everyone safe.

I know I’ve posted several reminders about Back-to-School Safety, but this is something worth repeating.

Our children are some of the most precious members of OUR community, and keeping them safe is a responsibility we all share. As school gets back underway, our roads are busier, school zones are active, buses are making their stops, and children are walking and crossing streets.

Please slow down, buckle up, be patient, and watch for children and school buses. Just as importantly, let’s remember that our young people are watching us. The example we set today helps shape the choices they make tomorrow.

A few extra minutes and a little extra attention can make all the difference.

Let’s be good examples and do our part to make this a safe and successful school year for every child in OUR community. 💙💛

It’s now almost time for kids to start back to school. Watch for the children crossing the street and getting on and off the buses. The minute you have to give up waiting, may mean a lifetime to OUR youth.

I want to sincerely thank the Pittsburg Police Department for hosting the Active Attack Integrated Response (AAIR) course here in Pittsburg.

This training gave first responders from across our area the opportunity to come together, train side by side, and strengthen the partnerships that are so important during critical incidents.

Participants included the Pittsburg Police Department, Camp County Sheriff’s Office, Camp County Constable’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Pittsburg Fire Department, Camp County EMS, Pittsburg ISD Police, our local dispatchers, and several first responders from neighboring counties.

Through this training, we enhanced our knowledge of response tactics, life-saving medical care, unified command, and coordinated communication. While we hope our community never faces an active attack, preparing together ensures that if the unthinkable ever happens, we are better equipped to respond quickly, effectively, and as one team.

Thank you to everyone who helped organize, instruct, and participate in this valuable training. The time invested today helps make OUR community safer tomorrow.

Let’s get ready and be prepared !!!!

With us entering the 4th of July weekend, take precautions if you use fireworks and let’s not forget our pets and livestock.

Make sure your pets – cats and dogs alike – have identification tags with up-to-date information. If you have horses, you might consider marking a safety (breakaway) halter with your contact information and leaving it on your horse during this stressful time.

If your pets aren’t already microchipped, talk with your veterinarian about microchipping. This simple procedure can greatly improve your chances of getting your pets back if they become lost.

If your pets are microchipped, make sure your contact information in the microchip registry is up-to-date.

Take a current photo of all of your cats, dogs and horses – just in case.

Make sure the environment is safe and secure. If your neighbors set off fireworks at an unexpected time, is your yard secure enough to keep your pet contained? Are pasture fences secure enough to keep horses or other livestock confined? Evaluate your options, and choose the safest area for your animals; and make improvements if needed to make the area more secure.

Be mindful that Independence Day will be celebrated several days and not just on July 4th.

The Camp County Constable’s Office was proud to assist the Pittsburg Police Department and our partner agencies during today’s S*x Offender Compliance Check. Working together helps keep our community safe and ensures offenders remain in compliance with state requirements. Thank you to everyone involved.

This morning Pittsburg Police Department with assistance from Texas Department of Public Safety, Camp County Constables Office and Texas A&M Forest Service conducted a S*x Offender Compliance check in the city limits of Pittsburg. During this check we located three subjects in violation, current cases are being worked and presented to the District Attorney. One subject had felony and misdemeanor warrants, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Camp County Jail. Our goal is to make sure the offenders in the city limits stay in compliance with regulations set forth by the city and the state.
