Today, a building located at 117 Quitman Street in downtown Pittsburg was dismantled as part of a private business project. The property owner approached the City of Pittsburg approximately two months ago about a project to renovate the building at that location seeking permits for the construction.

After that contact, the property was inspected by City of Pittsburg building officials and found the building itself, due to significant deteriorating conditions, to be unsafe to occupy and was considered “sub-standard” according to City Ordinance. Based upon the extent of the deterioration, a decision was made by the property owner to dismantle the building.

Last week a permit was issued for the demolition of the property.

🌟 Progress Continues at Fair Park 🌟

Construction of the All Abilities Playground is now underway at Fair Park, marking an important milestone in our commitment to creating inclusive, accessible spaces for all members of our community.

This project is designed to ensure that children of every ability can enjoy a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment. The playground will feature inclusive equipment, sensory‑friendly elements, and thoughtful design intended to support meaningful play experiences for all families.

As construction continues, we look forward to sharing additional updates and celebrating the completion of a space that reflects our community’s dedication to accessibility, equity, and connection.
