We are excited to share three awesome Juneteenth events happening this year in Chatham County!

First, head over to The Plant on Fri, Jun 19, 4pm-11pm, for a Juneteenth African American Festival presented by Eyes Wide Open. The festival will feature all-African American musical performances from the Raleigh area, as well as a variety of Black businesses and vendors, great food and drink, and plenty of activities throughout the evening. Tickets are $17.50 online or $15 at the door: https://posh.vip/e/juneteenth-african-american-festival-presented-by-ewo

Across the way in Siler City, the NC Arts Incubator will host their own Juneteenth celebration from 5:30pm-8:30pm during their third Fridays downtown music series. There will be musical performances, food trucks, and local brews from bmc brewing: https://visitpittsboro.com/event/siler-city-downtown-music-series/2026-06-19/

Rounding out the weekend is the annual Juneteenth Black Arts Festival, hosted by Community Organizing for Racial Equity - CORE at the Chatham County Fairgrounds on Sat, Jun 20, 2pm-6pm. Since 2018, the festival has evolved from a 100-person event into one that now draws over 3,000 people from across the Triangle region, all celebrating the impact of Black arts, culture, and entrepreneurship on Chatham County and American culture as a whole. This year's event promises a range of live entertainment and art, food trucks, educational opportunities, a Black business expo, and a Spades Tournament: https://corenc.org/juneteenth-2026/

Planning a road trip this summer? Editor in Chief Kevin Benefield shares this delightful Central North Carolina road trip in the Spring 2026 edition of Southbound Magazine, featuring some of our favorite spots in Chatham County:

The Fearrington House Restaurant
Carolina Brewery.
Carolina Tiger Rescue.
Cafe Root Cellar
The Plant.

Highlights include animal encounters with the big cats, award-winning farm-to-table dining, and North Carolina's oldest meadery, Starrlight Mead. This piece has been years in the making, and it was an honor to host Southbound Magazine and collaborate with them on an incredible Pittsboro itinerary!

Yes, we're saying it: marketing holidays are overdone. 🤭👇

Ranging from the random to the downright silly, these fleeting initiatives often lack the momentum and awareness needed to create true impact.

There are some rare exceptions, though, and this week marks two very important celebrations for our industry: Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) and National Travel & Tourism Week (NTTW). Both are salient reminders of the importance of both business and leisure travel, and how tourism and hospitality support our local community and catalyze visitor-related economic growth.

Today is Global Meetings Industry Day, and although Meetings Matter year-round, it's important to recognize the critical role business events play in fostering innovation, collaboration, and professional development. With excellent proximity to major airports and industry hubs, including North Carolina's Research Triangle Area, Chatham County is the perfect destination for seamless events that make a lasting impact.

From peaceful rural retreats to unique team-building activities and everything in between, our latest blog post is sure to inspire your next business function. Discover some of our favorite recommendations: https://bit.ly/MeetMeInChatham
