1:15 PM UPDATE: Town Hall is closed for the remainder of the day (6/16/26) due to no power, internet, and phones. Crews are continuing to work to get things back up and running on East Street. Thank you for your understanding.

A vehicle accident has occurred on East Street that hit a power pole near Walgreens. Crews are onsite responding to the scene and working to restore power in the area.

Hazardous Weather Update - June 11, 2026
🌡️ Dangerous heat is forecast for Thursday and Friday. A Heat Advisory is in place for portions of central NC from 11AM to 8PM tonight.
⛈️ Severe thunderstorms are possible in northern areas on Thursday before spreading across western and central NC on Friday.
🏠 Limit outdoor exposure and stay indoors if possible.
🥤 Drink plenty of water.
👕 Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.

Hi there Pittsboro. We placed the hot car display outside the library in town today. We want to show that even on a cloudy day the temperatures can still reach high levels. The outside template only went from 73.4 degrees to 80.6 degrees. However you will notice that the tempature inside the vehicle went from 75.8 degrees up to 111 degrees. Please be mindful when traveling with others and animals.

***TRAFFIC ALERT***

From 12:00PM to approximately 8:00PM, Hillsboro St will be closed to all traffic for The Pittsboro Summerfest. The event is from 2:00PM to 6:00 PM.

The following detour routes will be established for the duration of the event.

SOUTHBOUND ON HILLSBORO ST: Turn RIGHT onto Hank St, LEFT onto Fayetteville St and then LEFT onto West St. Take the first exit in the traffic circle on to Sanford RD to continue south

NORTHBOUND ON SANFORD RD: Take the first exit from the traffic circle onto East St. Turn LEFT on N Masonic St, LEFT onto Thompson St and the RIGHT onto Hillsboro St.
Large commercial vehicles should use NC 87 --> US 64 Bypass as a detour.
