STATEWIDE BURN BAN β ZERO TOLERANCE
Right now, Georgia is under a mandatory burn ban due to extreme drought and rapidly spreading wildfires. Homes have already been lost, families displaced, and fires are still actively burning across South Georgia.
π₯ Let us be very clear:
NO OUTDOOR BURNING OF ANY KIND IS ALLOWED.
That includes:
* Pine straw
* Yard debris
* Rubbish piles
* Brush piles
*Burn Barrels
* ANY open flame outdoors
Our department responded to TWO fires tonight alone caused by illegal burning. This is exactly how these large wildfires startβnobody intends for it to get out of control, but in these conditions, it happens FAST.
β οΈ We ARE enforcing this.
This burn ban carries the full force of law and violations can result in:
* Fines ranging from $100 up to $1,000+
* Being held financially responsible for fire damage and response costs
It only takess ONE sparkβa burn pile, a cigarette tossed out the window, even equipment hitting dry grassβto start a wildfire.
π We are asking you PLEASE
* Do NOT burn anything
* Do NOT throw ci******es out of your vehicle
* Avoid anything that could create sparks
* If you see a fire, call it in immediately
This is about protecting lives, homes, and our community.
We donβt want to fight preventable fires!!!!!!!!
We want everyoneβs homes and lives safe.
Please take this seriously.
