Two intense calls, one committed team!

On June 11th, Arbor Hose responded to a second-alarm fire on Bound Brook Avenue, assisting our sister companies in District 2. Arbor's crew played an active role in the extinguishment efforts, working alongside neighboring departments to bring the incident under control.

Just hours later, at approximately 5:00 a.m. on June 12th, Arbor Hose was called to New Brunswick to stand by during their fourth-alarm fire. Shortly thereafter, our crew was brought to the scene to assist with overhaul operations.

From District 2 to New Brunswick, our members continue to demonstrate that dedication, teamwork, and service know no boundaries. We are proud of the commitment our firefighters show to both our community and our neighboring departments whenever the call comes in.

Tonight’s shoutout goes to these incredible members who took the initiative to expand their knowledge and sharpen their skills. From ladder throws and single-firefighter ladder carries to pushing themselves through physical training, they demonstrated what it means to be committed to the craft.

The fire service isn't about doing the minimum, it's about continuously learning, improving, and preparing for the day someone depends on you. Every ladder thrown, every skill practiced, and every drop of sweat invested today builds confidence, competence, and readiness for tomorrow.

Your dedication, work ethic, and willingness to put in the extra effort do not go unnoticed. Keep striving to be better than you were yesterday. The difference between good and great is often found in the work that happens when no one is watching.

Forcible entry is more than forcing a door, it's about speed, technique, communication, and teamwork when seconds matter.

Tonight, members of Arbor Hose trained on forcible entry operations, focusing on proper tool placement, coordinated movements, and efficient techniques to gain access while minimizing delays on the fireground.

Members of the Arbor Hose Fire Department trained tonight on search and rescue under simulated low-visibility conditions.

Crews operated in a residential layout conducting primary and secondary searches using left- and right-hand techniques, while focusing on victim location, tool usage, and crew coordination. Members also practiced second-floor window entry (VES) to perform targeted searches.

Continuous training like this ensures our members remain prepared, disciplined, and ready to perform when our community needs us most.

Yesterday, members of the Arbor Hose Fire Department attended the Middlesex County HazMat Mass/Gross Decontamination overview training.

Mass decontamination is a critical operation used during hazardous materials incidents. It involves the rapid, high-volume, low-pressure rinsing of large groups of civilians or firefighters to effectively remove hazardous substances and reduce exposure to harmful contaminants, including carcinogens.

Using fire apparatus, ladder pipes, and designated decon corridors, this process is designed to quickly lower the contaminant load, ensuring the safety of both responders and the public.

We remain committed to continuous training and preparedness to better serve and protect our community.

Arbor Hose and New Market worked collectively Friday night on courtyard lays, taking the time to train together and strengthen coordination on the fireground. These joint trainings allow us to share knowledge, refine our techniques, and build the teamwork that’s critical when it matters most. A solid night of training focused on continuing to improve our skills and readiness.
