**********************************
Good morning,

Today I have the privilege of presenting the Golden Eagle Award. This is an award given from the Pioneer Police Department to a North Central staff member. This isn’t given for simply doing a job well; it is reserved for an individual who consistently goes above and beyond their normal duties to make life at our school genuinely enjoyable, positive, and meaningful for everyone.

To say this person does a lot for our school would be a massive understatement. As Mrs. Hasselbusch so perfectly put it, "Mrs. Carpenter is truly the heart of our junior high and high school community. She always has a smile on her face and a song in her heart, bringing positivity and joy to everyone around her each day." We all know this firsthand. Whether it’s her fantastic sense of humor or her daily emails to the staff, which are always uplifting, encouraging, and a bright spot in even our busiest days, Megan injects joy into our workplace. She is incredibly organized, dependable, and dedicated. She is the kind of person who will do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat, whether she is asked or simply notices a need that hasn't been met yet.

But Megan’s impact stretches far beyond her desk. Her devotion to our community is visible outside of school hours, where she volunteers her time coaching varsity softball, 10U rec softball, and leading in 4-H. She also pours countless hours of effort into supporting our FFA students at their various events.

Perhaps her most profound impact, however, happens in the quiet, everyday moments in the school office. Megan doesn't just manage schedules, file papers, or answer phones; she can also be seen counseling and mentoring the students who walk through the office door. I have personally witnessed her sitting one-on-one with a student who was downtrodden by their own mistakes, offering them grace and guidance. I’ve watched her skillfully calm down an irate teenager, helping him de-escalate and make the right choices. Her kindness, compassion, and advocacy for our students are evident in everything she does.

I don't believe any single one of us truly sees or knows all that Mrs. Carpenter does on a daily basis. She works behind the scenes, without a need for recognition, to keep our school running smoothly and happily. But today, we see you, Megan.

Thank you for your warmth, your tireless dedication, and for being an invaluable asset to our school family.

Please join me in congratulating the winner of the Golden Eagle Award, Megan Carpenter!

It is my honor to present you with the Golden Eagle Award.

"Good morning, everyone.

On behalf of the Police Department, it is a genuine honor to present the Golden Eagle Award today. This award is reserved for a staff member who doesn't just do their job, but who actively builds the culture of our school and looks out for our students in ways that extend far beyond the classroom walls.

As you may have guessed, that individual is Mr. John Shell.
When we look for someone who goes above and beyond, we look for vision. Mr. Shell saw an opportunity for our upperclassmen and took the initiative to launch the first-ever Washington D.C. trip.
Because of his persistence, students who might never have had the chance to see our nation’s capital will now get that experience.

But his commitment to government isn't just about that trip. Whether he’s taking students into government offices and local jails, or bringing in outside experts, and international speakers to pull back the curtain on how our world actually works, he prides himself in real-life learning.

Beyond the curriculum, he is the heart behind some of the most important parts of our student life. From advising the National Honor Society, to stepping up to lead the Fellowship of Christian Athletes so their meetings could continue, he constantly says yes when the school and the students need him most.

However, the real reason he’s being awarded isn't just because of the multiple committees he sits on or the trips he plans. It’s because of the respect he’s earned. You can see it in the hallway and I’ve heard it from the students, they sincerely love his class because they know he truly cares about them.

Mr. Shell, thank you for being a leader, and a mentor for our students. It is my privilege to present you with the Golden Eagle Award."

PIONEER PD ANNOUNCES NEW EXPLORER PROGRAM:

There was a day when serving and protecting one's community was not only a job, but a tremendous honor. One was motivated to be part of something bigger than themselves understanding there would be hard work and sacrifice, but still inspired by the honor to serve their fellow citizen.

We believe there are still young people who want to do this very thing and we are pleased to announce five students from the North Central Local School have committed to our new police explorer program.

With the hard work of Lt. Mills, Pioneer Police Department is building for its future by providing an explorer program where young people can learn all about the vocation of law enforcement.

Key Aspects of the Program:

* Training & Education: Explorers receive training in patrol procedures, traffic stops, defensive tactics, and radio codes, etc.

* Hands-on Experience: Participants often go on ride-alongs with officers, assist at community events (like parades or safety fairs), and learn about the criminal justice system.

* Personal Growth: The program emphasizes leadership, character development, self-discipline, and physical fitness.

* Networking: It offers opportunities to network with professionals in law enforcement, courts, and related fields.

Congratulations to our five new explorers and we thank them for their interest in the criminal justice field. We will share more information as this program takes off and the explorers will be introduced one by one in future posts.

We are incredibly blessed to have an amazing school social worker at North Central Local Schools. They know they can reach out to her at anytime and she will be there for them. She also has a keen eye for student who don't approach her, but do need assistance in a variety of ways.

Her passion for our students is infectious and she and I work very well together ensuring the best interests of our student body at all age levels.

Its National Safer Internet Day

We know we can’t keep our kids in a bubble. The internet is where they learn, play, and connect. Our goal isn't to isolate them, but to equip them.

The best defense is a good conversation. By teaching our kids critical thinking and the confidence to say 'no' to unwanted solicitations, we help them build the behavioral skills they need to stay safe online. (Https://Www.missingkids.org/netsmartz)

“Start conversations about safety as early as possible, even before
children go online, about:
• boundaries,
• healthy relationships,
• empathy,
• consent,
• rejection, and
• healthy development

Ask questions:
• What’s your favorite app? And why?
• Who do you talk to when you play games? How do you
know them?
• What are the games about? Ask them to teach you how to
play.

Kids need to know that they can trust you, that you are a source of information for them
We must understand that for kids, the online and offline world are interconnected and equally important for their social and emotional development.
Be honest and tell them that even though you might get upset, your main goal is to prtect them and help them” (Https://Www.missingkids.org/netsmartz

If you would like this presentation so uou can read more about Internet safety fo you and your students, just let me know and I’ll send it your way!

SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER APPRECIATION DAY:

February 15 is School Resource Officer Appreciation Day!
Did you know School Resource Officers (SRO) do far more than keep schools safe? Nationwide, SROs spend much of their time mentoring students, resolving conflicts, and building trust that helps prevent issues before they start.

In our case, Sgt. Mills has iniated programs that recognize the hard work of our school staff and the integrity of our great students. Many of the daily interactions Sgt. Mills engages help to build a student's self-worth, confidence and positive mental attitude. Creating such an environment is invaluable when mentoring our youth.

Please join me in thanking Sgt. Stephanie Mills for her amazing efforts in North Central Local Schools. I value her commitment to safeguarding our schools, supporting staff, and creating positive, meaningful connections with students every day.

Thank you, Sgt. Mills.

GOLDEN EAGLE AWARD:

I am happy to share the most recent Golden Eagle Award winner at North Central Local Schools. Mr. Eric Moreland received the Golden Eagle Award for his professionalism and his outstanding contributions ensuring everyone stays safe in the NCLS District.

As presented by Sgt. Mills, SRO at lunch at the school...
******************************************************************
I’m giving out an award today that normally I give out each month at the school board meetings. This award- the Golden Eagle- is from the Pioneer Police Department to a North Central staff member that goes above and beyond in their normal job duties and truly cares about the students and staff.

Because of mother nature, this staff member had even more responsibilities and loads of extra work hours stacked on them.

You can thank this person for all of the delays and snow cancellations recently as they get out super early in the midst of any inclement weather to check the roads that our buses and students have to travel on to make sure they’re safe.

You may remember for the boys basketball game at Continental, the weather was changing and the predicted snowfall was going to make the trip home treacherous. This staff member drove the bus himself rather than having a usual driver go so he could ensure first hand the students made it back safely.
Along with his team, he spent countless hours plowing, shoveling, and salting the parking lots and sidewalks.

He is one of the first people in the building and last out every day, in addition to attending and helping at functions held during non-school hours.

If there is an issue on one of the buses, he is quickly out the door and headed to help wherever the driver is.
He will drop what he’s doing, no questions asked, to answer a call for help from anyone. I know he’s got to be tired of my constant calls/ texts/ and radio requests!

Some other staff members wanted to mention some other key points that stand out. Our awardee hauled in and installed every single clever touch board in the school without complaint.

Even with a million other responsibilities, he’s never too busy to take the time in the middle of a hectic day to help a student. For example, assisting a kindergartner tie their shoes.

He never fails to answer questions, especially about transportation. He’s supportive and encouraging when other staff is learning new systems like Transfinder and the ODE transportation system.
He’s never too busy to ensure transportation is lined up for field trips, even if it’s a last-minute late request.

And He always ensures our Four County students get back here for pep assemblies, showing them they are a part of our NC community.

As you can see, he’s an extremely busy and important guy! There’s so many more things that he does that go unnoticed but are a vital part of our district running smoothly.

Please help me in congratulating Eric Moreland!
