Piney Creek Volunteer Fire Department

Piney Creek Fire was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident yesterday at the intersection of NC HWY 113 and US HWY 221. Thankfully only minor injuries.

We are grateful for our volunteers who drop everything to help those in need. Everyone drive safe and be certain to look both ways at this busy intersection!

Last night at 11:00pm Piney Creek Fire was dispatched to assist Sparta Fire with a working fire in down town Sparta. Piney Creek respond with Engine/Tanker 602 and Tanker 603 (3000 gallons) and seven volunteers firefighters which worked tirelessly through out the night to supply water to help extinguish the fire. All Alleghany Fire departments and multiple other departments from the surrounding area fought the fire through out the night. A huge THANK YOU to these volunteers who worked all night and then went to work today. As we have said before, What would we do without our VOLUNTEERS!!!

Yesterday, we laid to rest one of the founding members of our department, Charter Member Cliff Smith.

Cliff served with PCVFD for 10 years. He was there from the very beginning, responding to the very first call PCVFD ever received—a vehicle fire on Highway 113. Cliff answered that call aboard our 1955 Ford pumper, helping lay the foundation for the department we are today.

Cliff was well known and respected throughout our community, and his service and dedication will always be remembered by the members of PCVFD.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Cliff’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We are grateful for his service, his friendship, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

Rest easy, Cliff. Thank you for answering the call to serve the community of Piney Creek. 🚒

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to New River Fire and Rescue for standing by our station and helping ensure our community remained protected while our members attended Cliff’s funeral. Your support means a great deal to us.

The Blue Ridge Brutal bike event will be tomorrow. There will be many bikers riding through Piney Creek. Please use caution while driving through the community and remember to share the road!

Piney Creek VFD 30th Annual Drawdown

At 3:31 PM Piney Creek Fire, Alleghany Rescue, and Alleghany EMS was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Kings Creek Rd. Members were at the station preparing for the drawdown and Engine 601, Squad 606, and Brush 605 responded quickly. Upon arrival the driver had self extricated with no injuries thankfully.
