Today was the last week of the summer reading program "Unearth a Story" at the Pineville Public Library. Our kids (and our grownups!) had a blast during the past six weeks. We hunted dinosaurs, listened to stories about dinosaurs, and made dinosaur crafts! We even hunted a dinosaur by following his tracks to Palisades Park after he made a mess in our meeting room and didn't clean it up!!

Since today was the last day, we had a special party for attendees with pizza and dinosaur cupcakes, which were generously donated by Sweet Buns Bakery on Main Street in Pineville!!
And each child was presented a certificate of participation from Ms. Joyce and Ms. Desirae!! We hope the kids had as much fun as we did!!

Thanks again to Ms. Jessi for the pictures each week!!

And again, thanks to all of the adults who brought their littles out to join us, and we hope to see you all again very soon!!

Today was an awesome day at the Pineville Public Library for week five of the summer reading program!! To start off the fun, Ms. Desirae led the kids on a scavenger hunt at Palisades Park! Using their powers of observation, the children found 10 of the 12 objects on their list! While sitting in the cool shade of the picnic shelter, Ms. Desirae read an awesome dinosaur book, and the kids enjoyed snacks and drinks. Upon returning to the library, the kids made a very cool dinosaur hat to wear home!! It was so much fun!!

Next Thursday, July 30, is our sixth and final week, so please come out at 11:00 and help us Unearth a Story!! We'd love for you to join us!!

🦖🦕🦖🦕Oh no!! A dinosaur snuck into the Pineville Public Library last night and made a mess in our meeting room! He or she scribbled on our paper with chalk, left toys in a mess on the table, and then left big tracks leading out the door! The only thing left to do was follow the tracks to find the mischief maker and bring them back to the library to clean up the mess!! Ms. Desirae and the kids followed the footprints over to Palisades Park, but the tracks stopped at the pool!! After speaking to a lifeguard, the kids found out that the Dino had been chased out of the pool toward the pavilion!! They found the big purple dinosaur in the park and told him he was in time-out for leaving a mess that someone else had to clean up.

The Dino hunters rested in the shade of the picnic shelter after their strenuous journey, while Ms. Desirae read "How Do Dinosaurs Show Good Manners" by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague. The kids snacked on Dirt Cups with gummy worms before the trip back to the library. Upon their return, they completed a handprint dinosaur craft that showcased their creative talents!!

The kids and their adults had an amazing time on the hunt today!

🦖🦕🦖🦕Today we finished up Week 3 of the summer reading program at the Pineville Public Library! What a good time!!

Many thanks to all of the parents and grandparents who brought their littles out to join us today!!

Keeping to our theme, Unearth a Story, Ms. Desirae read "How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?" by Jane Yolen. Then the kids enjoyed a snack of "dinosaur bones" (white chocolate- covered pretzels). The craft the kids completed today was a dinosaur skeleton made with cotton swabs. All of the kids' arts and crafts projects are on display each week in the library meeting room!
