Bell county Ambulance Service is located in the beautiful mountains of Southeastern Kentucky on the Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia borders. BCEMS was formed in 1981 starting as a BLS service advancing to an ALS service in the 1999 currently we have 18 EMT's and 10 Paramedics on the roster, we have a fleet of 6 buggies and work 3 crews a day that respond to everything from doctor appointments to e
mergency calls serving the hospitals of Pineville Community Hospital & Middlesbrough Appalachian Regional Hospital, we also participate in many public events through out the county of which we are very pleased to participate with. We are assisted by Bell County Volunteer Fire Department & Bell County Rescue Squad two great volunteer services in our county on calls that they are required on. Bell County was formed on August 1st, 1867 we house two townships Pineville & Middlesbrough with Pineville serving as the county seat the population of the county reported by the census as of 2013 is 27,885 serving 361 sq miles mostly mountainous terrain. We are home to several different types of wildlife and two parks one National Park the Cumberland gap national Park has two 3/4 mile long twin tunnels and the Pinnacle overlook where at one point you can stand on all three states, the State Park Pine Mountain State Park has the Chain Rock that has a chain running from one rock to another rock with the old wise tell being that the chain holds the rock in place it sets high above the city of Pineville, along with the parks we have several outdoor activities like Fishing, Hunting, Canoeing, Kayaking, and the Wilderness Trail Off- Road Park where you can go four wheeling for days once a year the park host a Haunted Forest Ride that is headlined by some great national and local musicians.The city's of Pineville host the longest running festival in the nation the Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival that was started in 1931 and Middlesbrough hosting the Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival. Bell County is full of down home country folks that never meet a stranger so come set and visit for a while.
