I started this page over a decade ago, when I was on the CMS school board. I did it for two reasons. One was to show the public the things that service on the School Board entailed. But I also did it so my parents could see the things that I was doing in that capacity.
I kept it dormant while I was not in office, and then resurrected it when I was elected to Town Council. Again, it was an easy way for my parents to see all the things that I did, the people that I met, the experiences that I had. I write posts for my constituency, from the perspective of someone who lives within the jurisdiction that I serve. I post items that are not just things that are related to our town, but I also highlight things from the county and statewide that might affect us as well. My parents enjoyed reading about my adventures and the happenings in Pineville.
I changed the name from School Board representative to Town Council when that change happened in my life. It was a difficult process to change the name of an elected official’s page. I had to verify the my identity, the election results, and some other things - all of which were really good measures to have in place. I have not been able to change it again since being elected to this different office for the Town. Since people already know who I am, it doesn’t matter what the title of the page says. I might figure out how to make that change at some point, but it has not been high on my priority list. I realize I don’t post often; I tend to do Facebook in fits and spurts. I prefer to interact with my constituency in person: walking in neighborhoods, showing up to events, speaking to folks at the store or on the playground or at the park instead of via social media.
But I always kept my parents in mind. Because this Official Page was a way for them to keep up with my adventures, so to speak. My mama died two summers ago, and my dad died this past June. It has recently dawned on me that I needed to find another reason to post on this account. Because I am really not just informing my parents anymore. There are all of (gestures broadly), all of you.
I don’t have any illusions that large numbers of people will ever follow this Page, nor do I plan to be the best source of information about our Town; honestly, the Town of Pineville Page is your best source to follow. And Facebook’s algorithm is such that all of us miss posts, even if we try to follow pertinent pages for updates.
So I will try to keep those of you who follow this Page up to date, but please know that it is not the full focus of what I do as a public servant. For real time updates and information, follow:

I am deeply honored to be serving in the role as Mayor. I will try to keep this page relatively current.
