Today, we share news that is both bittersweet and filled with gratitude.

After a distinguished career dedicated to serving and protecting the community, Chief Hudgins, has announced his retirement. Chief Hudgins’ leadership, compassion, and commitment to public service have left a lasting impact on our department and the residents we are honored to serve.

While we will greatly miss Chief Hudgins, we are grateful for the foundation he leaves behind and wish him nothing but happiness and success in the next chapter of his life.

As we begin this transition, Assistant Chief Copley will serve as Interim Police Chief, continuing our department’s mission of service, professionalism, and dedication to the community.

Please join us in thanking Chief Hudgins for his years of service to Pineville and in welcoming Interim Police Chief Copley into this leadership role.

The Town’s official announcement is included below.

Congratulations to our 5th Grade Smilers, Class of 2033!

You did it! You made it through a long school year full of learning, growing, homework, early mornings, and probably a few “I forgot my Chromebook” moments.

We are proud of each of you and excited to see all the great things you do next.

A huge thank you to the teachers, staff, and everyone at the school who helped make this year a success. Your hard work, patience, encouragement, and ability to keep everyone moving in the right direction does not go unnoticed.

We hope all of our students, families, teachers, and staff have an awesome summer. Stay safe, have fun, listen to your grown-ups, and remember, we only want to see you for good reasons and happy occasions this summer!

🚨Arrest Notification🚨

Connecting the Dots🔍🧩

Over the past month, our detectives have been actively investigating multiple incidents, including two recent robberies involving dangerous weapons in the Pineville Forest area.

Through the hard work of our investigative team, investigators were able to identify a suspect and build a strong case.
Last week, search and arrest warrants were granted, and the suspect, Demonta Culbreth was taken into custody without incident.

Culbreth was charged with two felony counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

While cases like these are always a true team effort, we’d like to recognize the Detective Corporal for his determination and investigative work that helped bring it to a successful conclusion. The hours spent following leads, reviewing evidence, interviewing, and connecting the pieces were critical to identifying the suspect and securing an arrest. 🕵️‍♂️

This case is a great example of what can be accomplished through teamwork, persistence, and a commitment to serving our community. We’re proud of the efforts of all the detectives, officers, and personnel who contributed to this successful outcome. 👏

As some of you may know, I’ve had the opportunity to coach a U-10 soccer team with Hope Soccer Ministries, with games played at Jack Hughes Park. This season, our team won the U-10 Spring Championship, and we’ll be moving up to the U-12 division this fall.

Here’s a picture of our team along with the families who supported them every step of the way. This was an amazing group of kids who worked hard, supported each other, and made the season something special.

It’s been an honor to spend time with these young people, helping them grow while enjoying the game of soccer. I’m grateful to the parents and families for their support and for trusting me to coach their kids.

I also want to thank Nick Ratchev for giving me the opportunity to be part of this program and to coach. The relationships built through this partnership have been incredible.

Take a moment today to remember those we lost and the people who stepped up without hesitation. The courage shown that day is something that sticks with you.

Most importantly, we honor Joshua Eyer, Thomas Weeks, William Elliot, and Samuel Poloche. Their sacrifice won’t be forgotten.

Hug your family a little tighter. Check on your people. Be kind to one another.

Today marks two years since the tragic events of April 29, 2024—a day that forever changed our department and the Charlotte community.

As we pause to reflect, we remember the unwavering bravery of every officer who responded that day, our public safety partners who stood by us and the community that came together to support CMPD and our law enforcement partners like never before.

But most importantly, today and every day, we honor the fallen heroes: CMPD Officer Joshua Eyer, Deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks and N.C. Department of Adult Correction Investigators William Elliott and Samuel Poloche. Their bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

✨National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2026✨

This week, we’re celebrating the real MVPs of public safety💪. The ones who hear everything first, the ones who gather the details we need, and the ones who keep both our officers and the community safe.

They’re multitaskers, problem-solvers, and the reason chaos turns into coordinated response in seconds.👏

We couldn’t do this job without you, and we wouldn’t want to.

Thank you for being the calm in the chaos… and putting up with us on the radio😬🫶
