The Bell County Volunteer Fire Department has many ways to serve, from being an auxiliary member in a support role, serving as a firefighter, working with a specific Company Station, serving as a department officer, or working within our Junior Firefighting Program.
Erica Patterson joined the BCVFD in 2020 and actively works emergency calls, from structure fires, woodland, automobile accidents and EMS request for mutual aid.
At 36yrs of age, she is one of our active women firefighter. She is a member of the Right Fork Company, Station 5, serving that area and community. Erica is also a member of the Junior Firefighter Program Leadership Team. In April of 2022, Department Fire Chief, Tim Howard, appointed Erica on this unique team. She serves alongside four others on the BCVFD JrFF Leadership Team.
We asked why she joined and why she serves as Volunteer Firefighter, she responded by sharing, “I worked in a nursing home facility, when I was 18 years of age. I’ve always had a very soft heart for helping people and this is why I became a volunteer firefighter. I love being a member, I love serving others and I love everyone that is a volunteer here in the department. Everyone is all like family to me.”
Being a member of the Leadership Team and working with the Junior Firefighters, all the kids, she said was a lot of fun. Help us thank Erica for her service and lets applaud her commitment to make a difference and for following her passions.
