The May 2026 Meeting of the Pineville City Council was held this evening at City Hall as all eyes were on the Pineville High School’s Girls Softball team.

The council and mayor were appropriately dressed in “Pineville Proud” shirts as the Pineville Lady Rebels were recognized for winning the 2026 LHSAA State Championship earlier this month in Sulfur.

The Lady Rebels defeated John Curtis 12-1 in the championship game to bring the 5A Championship Trophy back to Pineville. The last time was in 1998. Congratulations to these young ladies for a great season!

What a great day it was this past Saturday at the Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Baseball & Softball Season at the Ward 9 Sports Complex. On hand were all the children’s teams including the team sponsored by your Pineville City Marshals Office.

The day was made more special as our local officials paid tribute to the man that helped make the building of the Ward 9 Sports Complex possible, Steve Bordelon. Through his efforts, this community has a state of the art facility that is second to none.

The January 2026 meeting of the Pineville City Council saw the departure of a longtime public servant. The mayor and council recognized Pineville Fire Chief Casey Cummings on the occasion of his retirement after 21 years of service. Enjoy your well deserved retirement Chief.

With the retirement last month of Councilman Tom Bouchie, the council appointed John Marcase as Interim Councilman for District 4. Mr . Marcase is a PR & Marketing Coordinator for Rapides Regional Medical Center and will be a great asset to our city.

In other business, the city was presented with their 2024-2025 Financial Audit. Steven McKay of Rozier, McKay & Willis reported a favorable audit which showed the city to be in a strong financial position.

Tonight’s December 2025 meeting of the Pineville City Council witnessed the end of an era of dedicated public service. District 4 Councilman Tom Bouchie attended his last regular meeting after 23 1/2 years of service on the council. Tom and his wife are moving to Texas to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Good luck to the Bouchies and thanks Tom for your years of service.

In other business, the council recognized Pineville Police Department’s newest officers, Elliott Fruge and Toby Gorbam. These two officers are recent graduates of the Alexandria Regional Police Academy and will make excellent additions to the department.
