Public Notice: Temporary Traffic Restrictions on Porter Mountain Road

For the safety of participants in this morning’s High Mountain Half Marathon, a section of Porter Mountain Road will be limited to alternating one-way traffic during the event.

From 6:30 a.m. to approximately 10:00 a.m., residential areas from Porter Creek Estates to Navopache Electric will be accessible only by traveling southbound on Porter Mountain Road (approaching from Show Low).

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to help keep our runners, volunteers, and community safe. Thank you for your understanding!

A simple habit can make a big difference.

Taking a few moments before turning in for the night can help reduce the opportunity for theft and keep our community safer.

Before heading to bed, remember to:

• Lock your vehicle doors
• Remove or secure valuables from your vehicle
• Secure fi****ms safely inside your home
• Close your garage door

These quick steps only take a minute, but they can go a long way toward protecting your property and helping prevent crime.

If you notice suspicious activity, please report it to the Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department’s non-emergency line at 928-537-4365. Always call 911 if you are witnessing an emergency.

Working together, we can continue to keep Pinetop-Lakeside a safe place to live, work, and visit.

Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Announced

For Immediate Release 6/24/2026

Holbrook, AZ- The White Mountain Fire Coordinating Group met today to assess current forest and community conditions. Due to rising temperatures and continued drying, the group has determined that Stage 2 fire restrictions are necessary. Therefore:

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest will enter Stage 2 Fire Restrictions beginning Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.

State Trust lands and BLM will enter Stage 2 Fire Restrictions beginning Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.

Navajo and Apache Counties will enter Stage 2 Fire Restrictions beginning Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.

The cities/towns of Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside will enter Stage 2 Fire Restrictions on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.

Please remember that Stage 2 Fire Restrictions apply to EVERYONE, including local residents and visitors. We all have an important part to play in keeping our communities and forests safe.

Not allowed:
🚫 No campfires, charcoal grills, or wood fires
🚫 No consumer fireworks
🚫 No smoking outside of designated areas
🚫 No welding, torch use, or activities that create sparks
🚫 No off-road vehicle travel outside designated roads and trails
🚫 No explosives
🚫 No tracer round am******on
🚫 No discharging fi****ms

✅ Allowed: Propane or LPG-fueled devices that can be turned on and off, as well as pellet smokers with UL or FM certification.

While restrictions are generally similar across jurisdictions, specific requirements may vary. Know before you go by reviewing the applicable restrictions at 311info.net under the Fire Restrictions tab or by contacting the local fire department or fire district. The 311info.net website will also provide updates about regional fires and emergencies as they occur.

Other areas throughout Arizona have also implemented fire restrictions. Please be sure to understand and follow the restrictions in effect wherever you live, travel or recreate. Stage 1 fire restrictions starting Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 6:00 a.m.Holbrook, AZ –

On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the voting members of the White Mountain Fire Coordinating Group (WMFCG) convened to assess current forest conditions and weather patterns throughout the region.

The members voted to recommend the enactment of Stage 1 fire restrictions in the unincorporated areas of Apache and Navajo Counties on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. Several other agencies, including the USFS Apache-Sitgreaves Forests, the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, and select municipalities, will also implement similar restrictions.

While the restrictions are largely consistent across the region, some variations may apply depending on the jurisdiction. These restrictions apply to all individuals, including full-time residents, part-time residents, and visitors, therefore it is up to each individual to know the rules.
