Early this morning, Pinetop Fire District and Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District responded to a residential structure fire on Apache Trail in Pinetop. One occupant was transported for medical care, and one occupant succumbed to their injuries.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragedy. The cause of the fire is under investigation, preliminary investigation indicates electrical as a possible source of ignition.

Today is more than a long weekend, family gatherings, or the unofficial start of summer. Memorial Day is a day of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for those who made sacrifices before us so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who fought and died for this great country. We also pause to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting our communities and citizens. Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and the lives that were given in service to others.

Today we are proud to recognize one of our own on an incredible accomplishment. Please join us in congratulating Marcus on successfully completing the Paramedic Program through Northland Pioneer College! 🚑🎉

Completing paramedic school is no small feat. It takes countless hours of studying, long shifts, time away from family, and dedication through clinical and vehicular rotations. The commitment and sacrifice required to reach this milestone often happen behind the scenes, but they do not go unnoticed.

Marcus, your hard work, perseverance, and dedication to serving others have paid off, and we could not be more proud of you. Congratulations on this achievement and on taking another step in your fire and EMS career. Your Pinetop Fire District family is so proud of you and celebrate this accomplishment with you!

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Forward Progress has been stopped.
Pinetop Fire crews have been released from the scene and USFS will continue working the fire into the evening. Crews made great progress with the type 1 helicopter. A huge thanks to the forest service crews and Globe Hotshots for a quick response.

Update: Helicopter has arrived on scene. The fire is just under an acre and crews are making good progress.

Update: USFS have ordered a Type 1 Helicopter. Suppression efforts continue. Still approximately 1/2 acre

Pinetop Fire District, along with USFS crews including the Globe Hotshots, is currently on scene of a 1/2-acre brush fire located behind Billy Creek off Pinecrest Lane. Smoke may be visible in the area as crews continue suppression efforts.

At this time, there is no imminent threat to the community of Pinetop. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
