BIA Route 125 Reopened – Public Notice
March 3, 2026 3:00PM MST

RNDOT is happy to announce that bridge repairs on BIA Route 125 have been completed earlier than expected. As of 3:00 PM MST on March 3, 2026, the road has been reopened to public traffic.

We kindly remind all motorists to follow posted speed limits in the area and remain vigilant. There is still some construction material near the bridge in Mountain View, and crews or equipment may still be present on-site.

This is only the beginning of the road system improvements in Mountain View and the Ramah Navajo community. There is loose gravel on both sides of the new bridge as further development will be taking place west and east of the bridge on BIA Route 125. We are improving the drainage system, sidewalks, and pavement in the Mountain View area, and we are also addressing the curve west of the bridge to correct the previous road design. This bridge replacement is the first steps in a series of road improvements planned for the Ramah Navajo community.

PLEASE SLOW DOWN as you approach the bridge for your safety. Do not speed into or out of construction zone. We expect all motorists to drive responsibly during these improvement projects.

We would like to thank all community members for their patience during these roadway improvements. Your support helps us continue enhancing the roadways throughout the Ramah Navajo community. More projects are on the way—please keep an eye out for upcoming informational flyers.

We appreciate everyone’s professional feedback and guidance throughout this project.

We also want to give a special recognition to the RNDOT road crew who helped build this new bridge for the next generation of the Ramah Navajo community to travel on. Thank you for assisting and great job to Antonio Begay, Armellio Begay-Pino, Garrick Eddie, and Ricky Coho!

Have a great day, and drive safe! Ahe’hee.

DISCLAIMER: The Ramah Navajo Chapter Office of Grants and Contracts and RNDOT are not responsible for any damages or accidents resulting from a motorist’s failure to follow traffic control signs or posted speed limits within the construction area.

UPDATE PUBLIC NOTICE:
02/27/2026

This notice provides an important update regarding the ongoing BIA Route 125 Bridge Project in Mountain View.

The closure of BIA Route 125 (Highway to Pinehill, NM) in Mountain View at the Bridge—originally scheduled to end on Friday, February 27, 2026—has been extended through Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
This extension is necessary due to crane-related delays that prevented the contractor from safely completing the concrete pour. While unforeseen issues can occur during construction, maintaining structural integrity, safety, and compliance with engineering standards remains our highest priority.

The designated detour via BIA Route 122 (Gravel Road) will remain in effect throughout the extended closure. Because of increased traffic along this roadway, dust-control measures will be applied to maintain visibility and reduce impacts on residents living along the detour route.

Updated maps for detour routes will be provided soon.

Please follow all posted speed limits when traveling on BIA Route 122 (Gravel Road) and remain alert for livestock. We encourage all drivers to plan ahead and allow an additional 30 minutes to ensure timely arrival at your destination. Speeding or passing other vehicles at high speeds on gravel roads is extremely dangerous and puts you and other motorists at risk.

Please share this update to help ensure that the Ramah Navajo community and travelers headed to Pine Hill receive this important information.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to complete this critical infrastructure improvement safely and efficiently.

You’re watching the live installation of a Fast Cast Bridge® at Ramah Navajo in Pine Hill, New Mexico.

This roadway serves as the community’s primary access point, making minimized downtime essential. Using accelerated bridge construction methods, the foundation was poured adjacent to the existing structure and is being strategically moved into place as part of a coordinated one-day replacement.

The morning began with a blessing at the Ramah Navajo Chapter House. This broadcast captures the bridge installation in real time, performed by Lenea Corporation.

Projects like this demonstrate how innovative bridge solutions can reduce disruption while delivering durable infrastructure for tribal, public-sector, and design-build partners.

Important Public Notice
February 25, 2026
We are experiencing issues involving the removal and theft of our temporary construction road signs. Please do not remove or steal these signs. Removing these signs creates serious hazards for motorists and puts our construction workers at risk. Traffic control signs are essential for safe navigation, and tampering with them is a criminal offense. Only authorized personnel are permitted to handle traffic control signs and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards.
We are also requesting the public’s support in preventing damage or theft of construction equipment and materials associated with the road construction project. Incidents of this nature can cause unnecessary delays in the project’s completion.
Anyone found to have removed, stolen, or damaged road equipment, road signs, or construction materials will be subject to fines or prosecution. If you see an individual committing these types of behaviors, please report them to the Ramah Navajo Police Department at 505‑876‑9655 or 505‑775‑3223.
Do not use unauthorized roads as alternate routes. These roads are restricted and closed for safety reasons. Motorists will be directed to use only the two authorized routes that have been designated for public travel.
We understand the stress and inconvenience caused by rerouting daily traffic and adjusting travel times. However, we all need to remain patient and understanding as we work to improve our road system. It is also not appropriate to confront Ramah Navajo Chapter 638 staff regarding frustrations related to the project. Our administrative staff handle their own program responsibilities and may not be directly involved in project management.
It is also not appropriate to confront our construction crews while they are working on-site. Doing so places both you and the construction team at serious safety risk. Entering restricted construction areas without authorization is strictly prohibited at all times.
If you feel the need to express concerns, please direct them to the Executive Director. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and understanding in this matter.
