On the same day that Sublette County lifted Stage 1 burn restrictions, an unattended slash pile got out of control in Bondurant resulting in response from our Sublette County Unified Fire volunteer firefighters. We want to remind you to not leave fires unattended, to burn when weather conditions are calm, to make sure your pile is dry in the middle and wet around the edges. And always, call before you burn. If you have any questions about how to burn safely and efficiently do not hesitate to call. 307-367-4550

It’s and Sublette County Unified Fire firefighters will be canvassing the County talking to kids in schools. Schools included: Pinedale Elementary, Big Piney and Bondurant Elementary’s and a fire prevention storytime at the Sublette County Library.

We encourage you to talk to your kids about fire prevention.

SCUF is also teaming up with NFPA to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week™, October 4-10, Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower. Help us spread the word that everyday actions can help prevent lithium-ion battery fires. Use your charging superpower by making smart choices every time you plug in. For more info: fpw.org.

When we aren’t responding to calls, we are training to respond to calls. Monday night, Sublette County Unified Fire hosted a County-wide hands-on training for volunteer firefighters on the new Synthetic Fluorine-Free Foam (SFFF). National Foam provided instruction on the proper application, operation, storage, and cleanup of MuniF3 Green 3%. Because this foam is now carried throughout SCUF, all firefighters will learn how to use it correctly.

SFFF is a modern, eco-friendly firefighting foam designed to extinguish Class B flammable liquid fires (such as gasoline, petroleum, and jet fuel) without using toxic, long-lasting chemicals. It serves as the direct industry replacement for legacy Aqueous Film Forming Foams (AFFF), which have been heavily regulated or banned globally because they contain PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)—often called "forever chemicals"—that severely contaminate groundwater and harm human health.
