Sublette County Unified Fire Sublette County Unified Fire provides fire protection/emergency response for all of Sublette County

Sublette County Unified Fire was officially formed in 2014 by County Resolution specifically to provide fire-related services for the three incorporated towns in the county, as well as for the remaining unincorporated areas of the county. The creation of Sublette County Unified Fire has consolidated six separate fire departments into one single, unified organization that provides fire protection for the entirety of the county.

June 1st, loses one of its finest! Bob Kladianos retires after decades of service in Wyoming and Utah. Saturday night he was honored by friends, family and colleagues. Bob always wanted to be an EMT/Firefighter said his sister who remembers his favorite show was "Emergency." Chief Cooper said Bob's diversity of talent was a true asset to our community. Bob said he's never worked with a finer group of professionals and that Sublette County volunteer firefighters are some of the very best. Bob thanked his wife Stephanie for her years of support and Chief Cooper presented him with a Kyle Miller Fire Photography "Flaming Starry Nights" photo, which made Bob gasp. He said he was going to purchase that art piece. To say Bob will be missed by us all is an understatement. Thank you, Bob. For everything. And thanks to for the wonderful venue, food and service.

🔥 Have you ever SERIOUSLY considered what you would do in a wildfire evacuation? Like REALLY thought through the details?

⏰ When would you decide to evacuate?
🧳 What would you take?
🐾 What would you do with your pets?
👨‍👩‍👧 How would you coordinate with your family?
🛻 Where would you go?

Recently, Sublette County Unified Fire and multiple partner agencies spent two full days working through a wildfire evacuation “tabletop exercise” — putting first responders and supporters through real-life scenarios our communities could face during a wildfire emergency.

Some neighborhoods in Sublette County only have one way in and one way out, making planning and coordination critical. Nearly 50 people participated over the two-day exercise, helping identify challenges, improve communication, and strengthen evacuation strategies for our county.

🚨 The feedback from this exercise is now being used to create a master Sublette County Evacuation Plan — not one that sits on a shelf, but one designed to be put into action if and when the time comes.

📣 Stay tuned for more information as the plan is finalized within the next month.

"Don't be afraid to call in a fire," said a husband to his wife when she called him to say her wheel bearing had broken on her trailer and her tire rolled into the grass near Warren Bridge, starting a small grass fire. "It's important to respond early and stop a potential fire," he said. So she called 9-1-1 to report the fire and four volunteer firefighters from Battalion 5 in Daniel responded. Fire crews made sure the fire was out and that the runaway tire was cooled before leaving the scene. Aside from some trailer repair work, this scene was secured. It could have ended very differently had the caller hesitated. "You're not going to get in trouble," said Chief Shad Cooper. "It is why we are here to protect our community. We can't help if we don't know." Please remember: You are never a bother. If you are in an emergency, please call 9-1-1. Without hesitation.

Some changes at the top for Battalion 3 in Bondurant. Heath Robertson is taking over as the new battalion chief. Heath was pinned by his father at the recent ceremony. “I am honored to be sworn in as Battalion 3 Fire Chief," Robertson says. "I accept this role with humility and am fully committed." Robertson replaces Sam Sumrall who is retiring after 10 years with the department (5 as Battalion Chief) and Jerry Johnson, a 26 year veteran who also served 5 years as battalion chief. Johnson will remain a volunteer firefighter. Gentlemen, we thank you ALL for your service to our community. Sublette County Unified Fire Sublette County

FIRE ZONES

🔥 Protect Your Home from Wildfires with Home Hardening! 🔥

Wildfires can spread quickly, but you can defend your home by creating three protective zones around it. The Immediate, Intermediate and Extended Zones. Our Wildland Urban Interface Coordinator Josie Valette is addressing the extended zone today, 30 - 200 feet from your home....

Home hardening isn’t just about materials—it’s about strategic landscaping and maintenance to slow fire down. This zone helps slow the fire before it reaches closer to your home.

Zone 3: Extended Zone (30-200 feet or more)
🌲Thin out dense vegetation
💚Keep grass mowed.

Taking these steps significantly reduces your home’s wildfire risk and gives firefighters a better chance to protect your property. Stay safe and prepared!
