⚠️ SCAM ALERT – FAMILIES OF INMATES TARGETED ⚠️

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam reported this morning involving the family member of an individual currently housed in our Detention Center.

The scammer contacted an inmate’s family member and demanded approximately $5,000, claiming the money was required to pay for an alcohol-monitoring device as part of the inmate’s court-ordered conditions.

If you have a family member or loved one in jail, please remember:

• Do not send money based solely on an unexpected phone call, text message, social media message, or email.

• If someone claims money is required for an inmate’s bond, release, electronic monitoring, alcohol monitoring, or other court-ordered condition, stop and verify it directly with the Detention Center before paying anything.

• Do not use a phone number, website, payment link, QR code, or payment instructions provided by the person contacting you.

• Call the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office/Detention Center directly at (307) 367-4378 to verify the information and obtain legitimate payment instructions.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office will not call an inmate’s family and demand thousands of dollars for a SCRAM or other monitoring device in order to secure their release.

Scammers increasingly use publicly available information to make their stories convincing. Knowing an inmate’s name, charges, court information, or other details does not mean the caller is legitimate.

When in doubt, do not pay—call us at (307) 367-4378 and verify first.

Please share this warning, especially with anyone who currently has a friend or family member involved in the criminal justice system.

(Pinedale, Wyo. – September 17th, 2026) —Sublette County Sheriff's Office 911 Dispatcher Helps Deliver Baby
Girl During Planned Home Birth.

A Sublette County dispatcher became an unexpected part of one family’s birth story Tuesday morning when a planned home birth progressed much faster than expected, leaving little time for the family’s midwife to arrive.

At approximately 2:54 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call from a family whose baby was ready to make her arrival.

The mother, who was expecting her third child and had planned a home birth, quickly realized labor was progressing much faster than anticipated. With the baby already crowning and the family’s midwife still en route, the family called 911 for assistance.

Emergency Dispatcher Emery Kemp, who has served with the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office since January 2021, answered the call. Recognizing that delivery was imminent, Kemp immediately dispatched EMS while remaining on the phone with the family.

Using Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) protocols, Kemp calmly provided clear, step-by-step instructions to help the family through the delivery.

Within minutes, a healthy baby girl was born safely at home.

EMS personnel arrived just minutes after the delivery and assisted the family with post-delivery care. Mom, dad, and their newest addition are all doing well and are very thankful for everyone who helped make an unexpectedly quick delivery a successful one.

The call is also a reminder of the critical role emergency dispatchers perform every day. While callers may never see the person on the other end of the phone, dispatchers are trained to provide lifesaving instructions during some of the most stressful and time-sensitive moments a person may experience.

Dispatcher Kemp did an outstanding job remaining calm, relying on her training, and helping guide this family through a very memorable few minutes until EMS could arrive.

Congratulations to the family on the arrival of their beautiful baby girl—and congratulations to Dispatcher Emery Kemp on a job exceptionally well done!

FOUND SAFE!!— JONATHAN BAILEY AND WRIGLEY

We are very happy to share some good news: Jonathan Bailey and his dog, Wrigley, have been located alive and are safe.

Today marked Day 7 of the search for Jonathan and Wrigley, who had set out from Elkhart Park toward 1000 Island Lake in the Wind River Range.

After seven days of searching, both Jonathan and Wrigley were located alive and brought to safety.

Search and rescue missions in the Wind River Range can involve vast distances, rugged terrain, rapidly changing weather, and limited communications. Each successful outcome is a reminder of the skill, commitment, and countless volunteer hours given by the men and women of Tip Top Search and Rescue.

We also want to thank the members of the public who shared Jonathan’s information, kept an eye out along the trails, and provided information during the search. In a backcountry search, even a seemingly small piece of information can make a difference.

Most importantly, tonight Jonathan gets to go home — and Wrigley does too.

Another great ending to a search in Sublette County.

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation changed forever.

On September 11, 2001, 2,977 innocent lives were taken in acts of unimaginable evil. Among them were 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and other first responders who ran toward danger while thousands of others were trying to escape it.

For those of us in law enforcement and public safety, September 11 carries a particular weight.

We remember the officers, firefighters, dispatchers, paramedics, military personnel, and ordinary citizens who answered uncertainty with courage. We remember those who reported for duty knowing they might not return home. We remember the families who said goodbye that morning without knowing it would be for the last time.

Twenty-five years have now passed. An entire generation has grown up knowing September 11 only through photographs, videos, classrooms, and the stories of those who were there.

That makes our responsibility to remember even greater.

Today, the men and women of the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office pause to honor every life lost, every family forever changed, and every first responder who answered the call that morning and in the difficult days, months, and years that followed.

May we never forget their courage.

May we never forget their sacrifice.

And may we never forget September 11, 2001.

Have you seen Glenn Spellman? He hiked out of the Scab Creek Trailhead around September 8 and got lost on the South Fork Bull Lake Trailhead. After searching the area, Tribal Game & Fish have been unable to find him. His cell phone has since died. He is 5'10" and 155 lbs.
