Do you know what Referendum 268 is?

It’s on the November 3 ballot, and our Pinecrest Elementary School Student Council students are here to explain it!

Referendum 268 asks Miami-Dade voters whether to renew existing funding for teacher salaries and school safety in public schools, including charter schools. This is an existing property tax, not a new one.

Public schools are part of every community, whether your children attend them or not. The decisions we make about their funding reach far beyond the classroom.

🗳️ Early voting starts October 19!

Referendum 268 is on the November 3 ballot, and its outcome will directly affect funding for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. 📚👩🏻‍🏫👨🏻‍🏫

The referendum would renew existing local funding that supplements teacher compensation and supports school resource officers.

This is NOT a new tax. This funding plays an important role in helping our schools retain teachers and maintain essential resources.

Early voting runs October 19–November 1. Swipe for voting locations and make your voice heard!

And don’t forget! Students can bring a family member’s “I Voted” sticker to school to receive a NO HOMEWORK PASS!

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we’re grateful for and to share our blessings with others.

Pinecrest Elementary Student Council is partnering with Christ Fellowship Church’s Caring For Miami initiative to help provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need throughout Miami-Dade County.

From October 12–16, we invite our Pinecrest families to give back by donating the following items:

Pre-K & Kindergarten: Boxed Mac and Cheese

1st & 2nd Grade: Boxed Mashed Potatoes

3rd Grade: Boxed Stuffing

4th Grade: Canned Green Beans

5th Grade: Canned Corn

Please send your donations to your child’s homeroom classroom by Friday, October 16.

A little generosity can make a big difference. Let’s come together as a school community to help more families enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

Pinecrest Elementary is participating in the Give Miami 5K, and every step helps directly support our school!

Join us on Sunday, November 15, as we run or walk to raise funds for improvements to our school’s Media Center.

Here’s how it works: When you register for the 5K, SELECT Pinecrest Elementary’s participating nonprofit as your cause. 100% of your race registration fee will go toward supporting our school! (If you don’t select our school, we don’t get the donation 🫣)

Adult registration is $45 through October 15 and increases to $60 afterward. Youth registration is $20.

Your registration includes:
• Dri-fit Give Miami Day T-Shirt
• Finisher Medal
• Bib Number
• Chipped Race Time
• Runner Awards
• Free access to the Give Miami Day Festival

You don’t have to be a runner to participate. Walk with us and make your miles matter! Pinecrest Elementary School
