Does getting out the door for school send your child into a spiral? π©π
Bring a sense of calm to your mornings by practicing a few simple mindfulness activities together. These grounding exercises can help your child feel more centered and in control throughout the day.
β¨ Sense the Surroundings
Help your child slow down and focus by noticing:
5 things they can see π
4 things they can feel β
3 things they can hear π
2 things they can smell π
1 thing they can taste π
This quick reset helps anchor them in the present moment.
π§ Body Scan
Guide your child through a few moments of stillness. Have them sit comfortably, close their eyes, and gently bring awareness to each part of the body, from the top of the head to the tips of the toes. Noticing tension, sensations, or even just stillness can help quiet a racing mind.
π¬οΈ Belly Breaths
Invite your child to lie down, place their hands on their belly, and slowly inhale through the nose, feeling their belly rise. After a short pause, they exhale through the mouth like blowing through a straw. A few rounds of deep, slow breaths can calm nerves and shift focus.
