Today, we mourn the heartbreaking loss of two brave firefighters who were senselessly taken from this world by a sniper while serving their community. These heroes ran toward danger, not away from it and paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.

But the danger isn’t over.

As we grieve, our prayers also go out to the first responders still in harm’s way, actively hunting the individual responsible for this cowardly act. These men and women continue to put their lives on the line to protect others, even as the threat remains.

To the families, friends, and brothers and sisters in uniform our hearts are with you. And to those still on the front lines tonight: we stand with you. Stay strong, Stay Relentless!

Are you asking yourself how can I give back to my community?
Well you’re in luck!
Mitchell City Fire Department is accepting applications for some volunteer firefighters.
Application can be picked up at city hall from 8-430 Monday through Friday.
Training will be provided.
