The Pine Island Lions club is proud to participate in tonight’s Salute to Service at the Panthers football game. We have placed flags as a backdrop to the flag pole and also placed flags in front of the scoreboard.

What an incredible evening in Pine Island.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this year’s Field of Honor possible.

To each of our flag sponsors—thank you for giving us the privilege of honoring the veterans who have served our country. Seeing their names represented across the Field of Honor is a powerful reminder that behind every flag is a person, a family, and a story worth remembering.

To our Pine Island Scouts, thank you for helping carry and place flags with such care and respect. And to the many volunteers who helped prepare, organize, set up, and make the evening run smoothly—this event simply could not happen without you.

The Pine Island Lions Club, Pine Island Fire Department, and Pine Island American Legion are proud to work together to make the field of honor more prominent and visible in our community. ❤️🤍💙

And finally, thank you to everyone who came out for the ceremony. Seeing our community gathered together to honor those who have served made the evening especially meaningful.

The Field of Honor will remain at Trailhead Park until Sunday, August 23. We hope you'll take some time this weekend to walk among the flags, read the names, and remember the people they represent.

Last chance! Deadline to get a flag in the field of Honor for a Veteran is today.

Your Pine Island Lions Club, the Pine Island Fire Department, and Pine Island American Legion Post 184 are teaming up once again to present the Field of Honor at Trailhead Park, August 20–23, 2026. Here's how you can sponsor a flag to honor or remember a veteran in your life.

🇺🇸 Opening Ceremony
Thursday, August 20 • 7:00 p.m.
Trailhead Park (101 E. Center St.)

During the ceremony, flags honoring veterans will be presented in alphabetical order. Sponsors are invited to carry their honoree's flag to its place in the Field of Honor. Members of the Pine Island Boy Scouts will also be available to carry flags, and sponsors are welcome to walk alongside them. If you're unable to attend, the Scouts will gladly place your flag on your behalf.

Following the ceremony, everyone is invited to the Pine Island American Legion Club for refreshments. A flag retirement ceremony will also be held at the Legion grounds after the Field of Honor ceremony.

Flags may be sponsored for $10 each. Complete a registration form and submit payment by PayPal, Venmo, cash, or check (payable to the Pine Island Lions Club).

This Sunday! Even if you're not joining the route, you can still get a peek at the tractor parade through downtown Pine Island! Tractors will leave Trailhead Grill at 8:30am and parade through Evergreen Place, then down Main Street to go out of town on 5th St Southwest. All tractors should pass through Main Street between 8:30 and 8:45am.

What is a Field of Honor? A Field of Honor is a designated area of the community where flags in honor or in memory of Veterans will be placed in a grid and displayed for a few days. This will begin with a ceremony where veterans' names will be read and the flags will be placed by a loved one or by the Scouts of America. Each flag will display the name and branch of the Veteran being recognized.
