💙💛🎷🎵🎼🎤FAME – Families Assisting Music Education - held its annual awards recognition and senior recital event on Monday, June 1. Students were honored for their outstanding commitment to music in their lives through their participation in NYSSMA music festivals throughout the year. The seniors were recognized as they took their final bow on the PBHS stage and scholarships were awarded to four elementary students, one middle school student and two graduating seniors who intend to continue their music education at the collegiate level. In addition, Theresa Caroselli was honored for her years of service as she retires this year. She was made a lifetime honoree member of FAME! Congratulations to all! 😎☀️💙💛Product testing – it’s a real thing! Students in Dr. Michael Raucci’s college anatomy and physiology class tested various sunscreens using UV lights and sensors to determine if they worked as advertised, which worked the best and if the method of application changed the effectiveness. The result – the students discovered that there is little benefit above 30 SPF and that lotions provide a better blocking effect than sprays. A bonus study found that dollar store sunglasses are as effective as expensive sunglasses at blocking UV rays. You’re welcome! Thanks Dr. Raucci and students.

⏰🎓💛💙How time goes by! Our fifth-graders are preparing to move up to middle school! Here's something that can really make a difference. On Wednesday, June 10, both middle schools will host a family program for middle school transition, starting at 6 p.m. Families whose fifth-graders will be entering either Crispell or Circleville Middle School in the fall are invited to come and meet staff members, learn about middle school life and get the lay of the land for their new building. We hope to see your family there!

❤️🤍💙🌟🛫Pine Bush High School senior Joseph Fontana had the experience of a lifetime. On May 30, he served as a guardian on Hudson Valley Honor Flight Mission 39. Joseph had the honor of accompanying Charles, a 77-year-old veteran from Peekskill, who served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. The day began with a sunrise es**rt to Westchester County Airport where crowds gathered to honor the veterans. They flew to Washington D.C., toured many of the memorials, shared meals and stories together. On the flight back, there was mail call, where each veteran received letters from local students. Joseph had requested and received letters for the vets from his former elementary school – Pine Bush Elementary! The day, Joseph said, was amazing! An experience he will never forget. What an honor for Joseph to be chosen to accompany one of our distinguished veterans. We are

Congratulations to Pine Bush High School Class of 2026 valedictorian Lucas Meisel and salutatorian Leah Meberg who joined New York State Senator James Skoufis in Albany on May 20 with the other top-ranking students from all high schools throughout Orange County. The students toured the Capitol and were introduced by Sen. Skoufis in the Senate chamber. Such an exciting day for all the students along with their parents/guardians. “It was a joy to continue our annual tradition of inviting our best and brightest up to Albany to celebrate their academic achievements with their families,” said Sen. Skoufis.

🥎💙💛🥇 Hey, hey, hey! Let’s hear it for our Section IX champion Pine Bush softball team! They defeated Section I champs Clarkstown South today, 7-3, to win the regionals. Now they head to the states on June 12 in Binghamton!! Way to go PB!! We are so proud!

Students in College Anatomy & Physiology class measured the skulls of ancient extinct human species and current homo sapiens. Based on those measurements, they calculated the volume of the brain cases and then estimated the size of the brains that these humans had. Using those volumes, they constructed full scale replicas out of modeling clay. Later, they presented their findings. It was a great hands-on experiment!
