Some images from our operations assisting our neighbors to our north, Banner County Vol. Fire & Rescue. Through training and good partnership with Laramie County Fire District #3 this enabled effective collaboration in fighting the fire. Crews worked for 8 hours, utilizing nearly 2000 feet of wildland hose, chainsaws, and hand tools, supported by volunteer manpower to secure the fire's eastern edge. The power of mutual aid proved crucial in stopping the fire.

Have we mentioned its dry out? At approximately 1:30 am this morning, our department was dispatched along with our automatic aid partner Laramie County Fire District #3 to a reported fire visible south of the rest area. A glow was evident from town, suggesting a possible fire in the bluffs. Upon arrival, units found a grass fire moving into the trees near the Pine Bluffs Recreation area. Prompt response contained the fire quickly, preventing further spread into the trees. Our response included 12 personnel, 2 type 6 brush trucks, 1 type 3 engine, 2 tenders, and a command unit. LCFD 3 provided 1 type 4 brush truck and 2 personnel. The fire burned approximately 2 acres, with crews on scene for 2.5 hours conducting mop-up operations. Due to elevated fire danger, personnel will monitor the area throughout the day tomorrow. The incident was attributed to a raccoon contacting an electrical transformer, causing a spark. We thank High West Energy for responding to repair the problem.
We reiterate the importance of vigilance and responsible behavior during these dry conditions.
