Jefferson County Burn Ban Effective Immediately

Due to current conditions, Jefferson County is being placed under a burn ban. There is an increased risk of wildfires. It is with this in mind that a BURN BAN has been issued for all of Jefferson County including the cities of Pine Bluff, White Hall, Humphrey, Sherrill, Altheimer, Wabbaseka, and Redfield. This BURN BAN is in effect immediately, and will continue until further notice.

Pine Bluff Community: Be on the lookout this weekend for our Sound the Alarm event! The Red Cross of Greater Arkansas will be partnering up with the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Arkansas and Pine Bluff Fire & Emergency Services on Saturday, October 18th. Teams will be installing free smoke alarms and providing fire safety information to neighborhood residents.

Dennis Cavanaugh, Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock, will be teaching a Skywarn® Storm Spotter class on April 29, 2025. The class will be held at the White Hall Fire Department, 5 Hospitality Dr, White Hall, AR 71602 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

NWS encourages anyone with an interest in public service to join the Skywarn® program. Skywarn® is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) severe weather spotting program with nearly 290,000 trained volunteers nationwide. Volunteers include police and fire personnel, dispatchers, EMS workers, public utility workers and other concerned private citizens. Individuals affiliated with hospitals, schools, churches, and nursing homes or who have a responsibility for protecting others are encouraged to become a spotter. You will learn:
• Basics of thunderstorm development
• Fundamentals of storm structure
• Identifying potential severe weather features
• Information to report
• How to report information
• Basic severe weather safety

⚠️ Flood Advisory Update – Jefferson County ⚠️
The Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management wants to inform residents that the National Weather Service is predicting the Arkansas River level at Pine Bluff will rise to approximately 44 feet by Tuesday, April 8th.

This may cause minor flooding along the river, and roads inside the levees will be closed.

Please stay safe:
• Avoid flooded areas
• Follow all road closures
• Take necessary precautions

Stay alert and be prepared. We’ll continue to provide updates as conditions change.
