The September 11 attacks, commonly known as 9/11, were a series of coordinated su***de assaults carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States on Sept. 11, 2001.
During these tragic events, 343 firefighters and paramedics, along with 71 law enforcement officers, lost their lives.
These brave individuals risked everything, prioritizing the safety of others even at the expense of their own lives.
Nearly 3,000 civilians also perished that day.
In honor of our fallen heroes, we will remember and pay tribute to their sacrifice with a ceremony on the 25th anniversary, which falls on Friday, Sept. 11, 2026.
The public is invited to join us in this event.
The details of the ceremony are as follows:
MOMENT OF SILENCE
Friday, Sept. 11, 2026
8:58 a.m. -- All available fire department personnel will assemble at attention in front of the flagpole at Fire Station 3 at 601 W. 32nd.
Lowered flag according to local, state or national proclamation.
Community involvement is optional.
When assembled, maintain silence.
8:59 a.m. β Time of the South Tower Collapse, sirens sounded for one minute.
9 a.m. β One Minute of Complete Silence.
Company officer or chaplain, if present, may choose to make brief remarks.
