Hello Jefferson County,

There is a Special Primary Election happening, Tuesday, August 18, 2026, for Senate District 001. Early Voting will begin Tuesday, August 11, 2026, through Monday, August 17, 2026.

Also, only registrants that reside in Senate District 1 are eligible to vote in this Special Primary Election.

To verify your district, you can: 1) review information on your voter registration card 2) check your information on the voter view website 3) contact the County Clerk office at 870-541-5322

Due to multiple calls in regard to the Municipal Mayor Council Form of Government and City Manager/Administrator Form of Government filing dates and deadlines please see attached flyers.

Petitions started circulation on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The filing period will begin Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 12:00 noon and will end Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 12:00 noon.

Circulation of petitions for independent candidates begin, May 7, 2026.

The 2026 filings for independent candidates seeking positions and ballot placement for the November General Election will begin 12:00 noon on July 29, 2026, and end 12:00 noon, August 5, 2026. Submission of petitions, completion of paperwork, and handbooks will be provided during this timeframe.
