Attention Campers - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Following DNR Parks and Recreation Policy, campsites MUST be checked in and occupied within 24 hours of the arrival date, if reservation is not checked in by 3 PM the next day, the campsite will be automatically moved to “No-show”, canceling the reservation.
Please plan accordingly - if you are not able to arrive within 24 hours of your reservation, you will need to modify your booking by calling 800-44-PARKS.
This policy will be enforced consistently across all State Parks and onsite park staff cannot override this process.

FYI - Huron River Closures 2026

These locations on the Huron River are or will be closed for paddling and/or portaging for the 2026 season: the portage at Flook Dam at the downstream end of the Chain of Lakes, Barton Dam in Ann Arbor and the downstream portage stairs at French Landing Dam on Belleville Lake. Plan your trip to avoid them.

ATTENTION TRAIL USERS & VISITORS:

PRESCRIBED BURN TODAY 4/23/2026 (HIGHLIGHTED BLUE).

THE CROOKED LAKE TRAIL AND PORTION OF SILVER LAKE TRAIL ARE CLOSED TODAY FOR A PRESCRIBED BURN. THE CONNECTOR TO CROOKED LAKE TRAIL ACROSS FROM HALFMOON LAKE ENTERANCE IS ALSO CLOSED.

PLEASE SEEK AN ALTERNATE TRAIL FOR USE.

LOSEE LAKE TRAIL - OPEN

NORTH LOOP AROUND GOSLING LAKE - OPEN (Parking available at Highland Lake Boat Access head N on trail or parking available at Gosling Lake Boat Access).

THE POTAWATOMI TRAIL IS OPEN AT #7 AND HEADING SOUTH WEST (N of #4 Closed, NE & SE of 9 Closed)

Announcements:

Bruin Lake Campground is now OPEN for the season! Portions of the campground are still closed due to construction until mid-June. We do have firewood available at Bruin Lake CG for $6/bundle

The Annual Trail Marathon is on Saturday, April 25th. Runners will be starting at Silver Lake Day Use Area at 8 am. Runners will be utilizing significant portions of the Potawatomi Trail for this event.

After a 2 year hiatus due to campground construction, we are so excited that our fall festival is back this fall! Attention Boaters: the skid piers are in place throughout the park! Reminder Halfmoon Boat Launch and Crooked Lake Boat Launch will open April 1st. All other boat access sites are open.

As the warm weather is approaching - We wanted to remind our visitors about the rules/regulations on E-bikes. Below you will see the different classifications of E-bikes and information regarding which styles are permitted within our parks. Class 1 is allowed on our improved-surface trails, and natural surface non-motorized trails. Class 2 is allowed in same areas but ONLY with a DNR-issued permit (at not cost to applicant).
