Ray Roberts Lake State Park - Isle du Bois Unit is on the south side of Ray Roberts Lake in Denton County. The Isle du Bois Unit (meaning "Island of the Trees") opened in 1993. Visitors to the park can enjoy a range of hiking and biking trails, wildlife and bird watching opportunities, camping, ranger programs, swimming, fishing, geocaching and more! Located in the Eastern Cross Timbers, the park

is home to variety of oak trees, elm trees, and many others. Visit the park and be transported to another time and place where nature abounds! The Interpretive Center is home to many hands-on exhibits from the park including animal skins and skulls. Everyone is welcome! The Interpretive Center is a great place to get information about the park, visit with a park ranger and borrow a Jr. Ranger Explorer Pack to begin your own adventure in the outdoors. The Interpretive Center is open on weekend and by request. Life's Better Outside!

Fun fact Friday!

Have you ever seen these fuzzy little bees around your flowers? Turns out they are not actually bees, but actually a type of fly! Say hello to the white-faced bee fly!

Bee flies belong to the family Bombyliidae, and their resemblance to bees isn't just a coincidence, but a form of what we call Batesian Mimicry. By imitating the coloration and general appearance of bees, they trick predators into leaving them alone!

Even if they only look like them, bee flies are just as important as pollinators as bees themselves!

Summer is here! As we head into the summer months, it will only get busier and busier here at the park! We will frequently sell out and reach capacity, especially on weekends and holidays. To guarantee your access to the park, be sure to reserve your day entry pass online to help ensure a smooth check-in at the window and a quicker line through the gate.

Additionally, make sure you make your reservation for the Isle du Bois Unit of the park. Once we reach capacity, we cannot accept reservations for Johnson Branch or Greenbelt.

You can reserve day passes up to 30 days in advance. Texas State Park Pass holders are also encouraged to reserve day passes, as having one alone will not guarantee entry.
