It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Gloria “Nana” Ratliff. She worked here at the Pike County Detention Center for many years and became a role model for many inmates and co workers as she instilled in them devotion, hard work and determination. Something she made sure everyone knew was that God is real and he loves and has a purpose for everyone. Please pray for the family and friends in the days to come as they lay “Nana” to rest. She will be missed dearly.

As we work to secure funding for the PCDC, this past June we signed a Federal contract with the US Marshall services. This contract has allowed our facility to keep officers employed while decreasing expenses for Pike County tax payers. Most of these Federal inmates stay only several hours at our facility before being transferred to other US Marshall facilities. My staff has done an incredible job housing all the US Marshall inmates, including several of the Jan. 6th individuals, but let me be very clear about this issue. These are Federal prisoners. No County or State official has the authority to release any of these Federal inmates. It is not within the powers of a county jailer. In doing so we will be held responsible punishable by jail.

It is with deep sadness to hear of the passing of our dear friend and former Co-worker, Willa Adams. Willa was the epitome of a public servant serving nearly 30 years to her job at the detention center. There are not enough words in the world to sum up Willa’s character, dedication and love for her friends and family. Willa was always on top of her game and willing to help anyone who needed it. We will truly miss her but especially her smile, hugs and her quick wit. Please pray for her friends and her family in the days to come as they lay this sweet sweet woman to rest.

We are proud to announce that we at the Pike County Detention Center, have partnered with the Pike County Board of Education and American Metal Works, to provide an emergency safety device that will add an extra layer of protection for our school systems. The safety of our children and educators is a top priority for our community to protect our future generations. We intend to have these devices installed on every classroom door in Pike County over the course of the school year. This will be at no cost to the Board of Education nor to the taxpayers.

We would like to send our deepest condolences to the family of Robert W. Lindsey. He was truly one of the greatest men of his time. He has been a true friend to all of us at the Pike County Detention Center and all other First Responders in our area. Robert’s son Weston Lindsey is a Lieutenant at the Pike County Detention Center and is a great role model for others to look up to which is for sure a trait that he obtained from his father. Please as a community let’s come together and send love and prayers to this wonderful family for the days to come.

We would like to recognize and thank our kitchen workers for the hard work and dedication that it takes to maintain the quality and quantity of meals that we feed to the inmates. These workers prepare nearly 36,000 meals a month. That is an outstanding achievement that they meet daily. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to your craft.
