JOINT NEWS RELEASE

Sevier County, Cities of Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg, and Town of Pittman Center to Proclaim September 25 as Dolly Parton Day

Sevier County, the City of Sevierville, the City of Pigeon Forge, the City of Gatlinburg, and the Town of Pittman Center will jointly proclaim September 25 as Dolly Parton Day, recognizing and celebrating the extraordinary life, enduring legacy, and lifelong connection to her hometown of one of Sevier County’s most recognized and influential daughters.

A special signing ceremony will be held at 9 AM on Friday, September 25, on the steps of the historic Sevier County Courthouse, located at 125 Court Avenue in Sevierville. Leaders from Sevier County and the participating cities will gather to officially sign the joint proclamation and commemorate this historic day.

Beginning September 25, 2026, and continuing each year thereafter, Dolly Parton Day will give the people of Sevier County, businesses, organizations, schools, and visitors an opportunity to celebrate Dolly’s remarkable contributions while reflecting on the values she has demonstrated throughout her life.

Born and raised in Sevier County, Dolly Parton carried the spirit of the Great Smoky Mountains and her East Tennessee roots with her throughout a career that has touched generations around the world. Her accomplishments in music, entertainment, and business helped shape the tourism industry of Sevier County, while her generosity and commitment to helping others have created a legacy that extends far beyond her professional achievements.

Through the Dollywood Foundation and Imagination Library, her support of pediatric healthcare, and her response to the 2016 wildfires through the My People Fund, Dolly consistently demonstrated a commitment to children, families, and the communities she calls home.

Residents, businesses, organizations, schools, and visitors throughout Sevier County are encouraged to celebrate Dolly Parton Day in their own way and, most importantly, to dream big, work hard, care for others, give generously, and never forget where you come from.

Dolly Parton Day will be observed annually on September 25 throughout Sevier County.

A reminder that the City Hall drive-thru window is temporarily closed due to construction.

You can still access the City Hall and Police Department parking areas and park in front of the buildings. The entrance to the parking lot is located near the Post Office.

We’ve included photos of the entrance to help you find your way in.

🚧 Water Line Work on Dollywood Lane

Water line work will begin Thursday, September 10, at approximately 8 a.m., on Dollywood Lane near the golf course. Motorists should expect traffic delays and possible temporary traffic restrictions in the area while the work is underway.

Please use caution when traveling through the area and allow extra time for your commute.

The games are FREE to the public and Texas Roadhouse will be hosting a tent at tonight's events.

📣 Pigeon Forge & Sevierville Tourism Development Zone Stakeholder Listening Session

The Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism and Sevierville Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development, will host a Town Hall Meeting on September 15 for an informal stakeholder conversation about the Tourism Development Zones in Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

Local businesses, attractions, destination organizations, government representatives, residents and other interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the emergency rules, ask questions, share concerns and provide feedback as the state works toward developing permanent rules.
