Those in command of this complex incident did a fantastic job. With the number of firefighters, departments and equipment involved, taking command of an incident like this is no easy feat. While this was a bad one, it could have been worse. Pierson had equipment and personal on scene for approximately 9 hours or so. Proud of our guys and proud of the surrounding departments!

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Pierson Fire Department will be performing a controlled burn, legally permitted by the fire Chief, at the Pierson City Park at around 5:30 today (6/20). Please remember, most of Woodbury County, and all of Plymouth County are now in a burn ban. No open burning of any kind is allowed without a burn permit from your local fire Chief. Please reach out with any questions.

Plymouth county has now joined a good portion of Woodbury county. It's drier than it appears out there.

Many of the members of the Pierson Fire Department spent this past weekend at the annual Fire School. Not only as attendees, but much of the school is proudly organized and managed by members of our very own department. It's a huge undertaking, but it's worth it to be able to provide some first class training to the men and women that answer the call for help.

A big congratulations to our close friends and neighbors over at Kingsley Fire on the completion of their new Fire Station! As some of you may know, earlier this year, Pierson and Kingsley signed an automatic aid agreement for fires. Each department is now automatically paged for fire calls. The purpose is to get the best response possible, on the scene of a fire as quickly as possible. Both communities are very lucky to have departments that share resources, work together, train together, and have each others backs. All for the betterment of our communities and the surrounding area. Congrats Kingsley!

A rural Iowa fire and EMS department has opened a new facility funded by the sale of a farm donated by a local couple who died more than a decade ago.

🚨 BIG NEWS FOR PIERSON FIRE! 🚨

This morning, members of the Pierson Fire Department were honored to receive a $74,539 grant from Missouri River Historical Development, Inc - MRHD to help fund our new grass fire truck!

Countless hours of teamwork went into planning, writing, and submitting this grant — and it’s paying off. Our current grass rig, a converted 1990s military dump truck, has served us well but has truly reached the end of its useful life.

The new truck, expected to be in service by spring, will be safer, more efficient, and better equipped to handle not only grass fires but a wide range of emergency responses — helping us reach those in need faster than ever before.

To say we’re excited is an understatement!
