These cases are never easy as we can never bring back a family’s loved one. All we can do is try and seek some semblance of justice, and I feel that we accomplished that today with this sentence. I cannot thank local law enforcement and DCI enough for their hard work on this case.

Snowmen

These are just a few of the guys who don’t get snow days! They’ve been out rescuing stranded motorists, checking on abandon vehicles, and dealing with weather issues - all while still performing their regular duties!

Corrections Officers are equally critical - you wouldn’t think snow would impact a jail but you’d be wrong!

Deputy Sack spent his final day with HCSO doing the same thing he did on his first day - helping others.

It’s what we’re here to do. But having said that - please don’t push your luck. ‘No travel advised’ is exactly what it says.

Can’t say it enough - thank you First Responders!

Dangerous road conditions in Hughes County
Don’t put First Responders at risk

Hughes County Sheriffs Deputies, Pierre Rescue Squad, AMR Ambulance, and local tow recovery operators are working a complex semi overturn east of Pierre.

DOT is advising no travel in most areas of the state as road conditions continue to decline. Plows will not be working until morning as a major winter storm continues to move across the state.

Do your part and avoid putting First Responders at risk. Not traveling on roadways also reduces compaction and helps plow crews do a better job, faster when conditions improve.

Thank you First Responders & stay safe tonight and always!
