Community, Safety and a Great Day on the Bayou! 🚒🛶🎃

The Pierre Part Volunteer Fire Department is happy to help spread the word about BTNEP’s Paddle the Estuary: Bayou Pierre Part – Halloween, happening Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Veterans Park.

Our waterways are a big part of who we are, and this is a great opportunity for families, neighbors, and visitors to get outside and enjoy Bayou Pierre Part together.

The event begins at 8:00 a.m., with the paddle starting at 9:00 a.m. Participants may choose a 5.5-mile or 10-mile paddle. The day also includes breakfast, lunch, an event T-shirt, BTNEP swag, and live Cajun music.

Participants should bring their own kayak or canoe and life jacket; a limited number of free kayaks/canoes are available by reservation. Register by October 16 to guarantee an event shirt.

We hope to see a great crowd enjoying our community and our beautiful waterways safely this Halloween!

Yesterday, Fire Chief Don Breaux and Medic/RN Michelle Theriot had the pleasure of sharing a little bit about their everyday lives as first responders with PPE’s Kindergarten classes, who are learning about community helpers. We love any opportunity we have to discuss fire prevention and safety with children, as we feel this is very important. We had dispatch do a pager test to show the kids what it sounds like when we get paged out for a call. They enjoyed seeing our bunker gear, radios, and medical supplies, as well as pictures from a real fire we had. We would like to thank Principal Nicole Pipsair and Mrs. Toni Bourg for this opportunity. 🚒🔥

Tonight 25 firemen and medics attended driver training. All 7 trucks were used. Four fire trucks and three medic units were available for everyone to train and drive the course or drive through town to get familiar with each truck. Thanks everyone for your dedication and continued participation in training!
