Incident: Mutual Aid - Jumper down
Location: Bear Mountain Bridge
On today’s date the Piermont Fire Department Marine Unit & Dive Team was requested mutual aid to assist the Stony Point Fire Department with a reported jumper down off the Bear Mountain Bridge.
13-Marine 1 & 13-Marine 2 responded with 9 divers, 2 tenders and 6 EMTs to the scene within 18 minutes of the initial dispatch via the Hudson River. Once on scene members assisted other marine units from Rockland, Orange and Westchester Counties by conducting surface searches just south of the bridge due to the outgoing tide.
Within 6 minutes of being on scene members of our dive team located the victim about 1.3 miles south west of the bridge. 2 divers were then deployed and the victim was removed from the water. Once on the marine unit, EMTs started CPR while the victim was transported to the pier located at the state park, Rockland side.
Members from Stony Point Fire Department, RCSD and NY Park Police assisted with further medical treatment while awaiting units from Highland Falls and Stony Point EMS.
