🚨 Piedmont Police Department Reminder 🚨

A vehicle can become dangerously hot in just minutes — even with the windows cracked. Leaving a child inside a car is never safe.

Before you walk away:
🛑 STOP
👀 LOOK
🔒 LOCK

Always check the back seat and lock your vehicle to prevent children from getting inside unattended.

A moment of distraction can turn tragic. Help us keep our kids safe this summer. ☀️👶🚔

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

As the sun rises over Oklahoma this morning, we remember those who never saw another sunrise.

Their sacrifice gave us the freedom to live in communities like ours… to raise our families, gather with friends, and enjoy the simple blessings too often taken for granted.

Today, we honor the men and women who gave everything for this country and the families who continue carrying that sacrifice long after the flags are folded.

From the Piedmont Police Department, we remember the fallen.
And we will never forget. 🇺🇸

This is yet another one of those weather days that we may see nothing or could end up with severe weather. If storms do develop, they should be to our west and / or north.

Make sure you have a favorite TV channel, radio, AND other methods of receiving emergency news / weather info.

5/18 @ 2:55 PM - Watching for storm development over the next few hours across portions of western into northwest Oklahoma of the next few hours. A few strong to severe storms may be possible with large hail and damaging winds.

Speeding may only save you a minute or two, but it can cost someone everything.

Most crashes don’t happen because someone planned to be reckless. They happen because of one bad decision, one distraction, one moment of impatience, or one driver going too fast for the conditions.

When you speed, you have less time to react, less control, and a much greater chance of turning a normal drive into a life-changing crash.

Slow down. Buckle up. Stay alert.
The goal is simple: make it home.

This week is National Police Week — a time to honor the men and women who wear the badge and remember those who gave everything in service to others.

In 2025, the United States lost 111 law enforcement officers in the line of duty. Behind every number is a family forever changed, a department grieving, and a community impacted.

Law enforcement is more than a profession — it’s missed holidays, long nights, difficult calls, and the willingness to run toward danger when others run away. This week, we recognize the sacrifice, dedication, and courage shown by officers across our nation every single day.

Please join us in honoring the fallen, supporting the families left behind, and thanking the officers who continue to serve our communities with pride and professionalism.

To our officers: thank you for what you do.
To the fallen: we will never forget. 💙

Today is about moms. 💙

The ones who raised us, prayed for us, worried about us, supported us, and somehow never stopped loving us… even on our hardest days.

No matter how old we get, hearing:
“Be careful.”
“Drive safe.”
“Love you.”
…never stops meaning something.

To every mother, grandmother, stepmom, adoptive mom, and mother figure in our community — thank you for the love and sacrifices you make every single day.

And to the moms working today while serving others — we appreciate you too.

💐 Happy Mother’s Day from the Piedmont Police Department

⚠️ If you get this text… don’t fall for it. ⚠️

We’re seeing another round of scam messages claiming to be from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety (DPS) about unpaid traffic violations.

They’ll say it’s a “final notice” and may threaten license suspension or registration issues, along with a link to make a payment.

These are scams.

DPS is not sending text messages demanding payment like this.

If you get one:
• Don’t click the link
• Don’t send any information
• Delete it

If you have questions about your license or a ticket, go directly to the official DPS website or contact them yourself.

Just a reminder so nobody gets caught off guard.

🚧 Traffic Safety Update – Piedmont 🚧

If you’ve seen this sign recently… you’re part of the study.
The Piedmont Police Department currently utilizes two traffic monitoring signs throughout the city that were obtained through a Highway Safety Grant. These signs do more than display your speed—they collect traffic data that helps us conduct traffic flow studies.

We recently relocated one of the signs to Piedmont Road (northbound) to gather data and determine if adjustments to the current speed limit are necessary.

For clarification, these signs are not used to issue citations or automatically enforce traffic laws. They are strictly used for data collection and to bring awareness to driver speed.

We look forward to reviewing the results and will continue working to improve traffic safety in Piedmont.

Last nights City Council meetingmarked an important milestone for the Piedmont Police Department.

The department was formally recognized by the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police for achieving Accreditation through the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation Program.

To put this into perspective, out of nearly 600 law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma, only 47 have been recognized as a Verified Agency, and only 7 have reached Smaller Agency Accreditation status. The Piedmont Police Department is now part of both of those groups.

This achievement represents months of work reviewing policies, procedures, and operations to ensure compliance with state standards and alignment with best practices in modern policing.

The department would like to recognize Lt. Bruce Maness, who served as Accreditation Manager and played a critical role in guiding this process to completion.

Chief Shayne Clark was also presented with a Leadership Recognition by OACP. That recognition reflects the collective work, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated by the entire department.

This accomplishment belongs to every member of the Piedmont Police Department who continues to serve this community with integrity and dedication.

The department remains committed to maintaining these standards and continuing to build trust with the citizens of Piedmont.
