Our communities need a helping hand to recover and rebuild, and this declaration would make critical federal assistance available to those who need it.

My constituents need help NOW. FEMA is on the ground assessing the flood damage, but assessments alone are not direct assistance for families and businesses trying to recover.

I am pushing for immediate federal relief and will continue pressing until that assistance reaches our communities.

Residents of Morgan, Muskingum, and Perry Counties will see federal and state assessors this week as they work to evaluate the full scope of damage caused by recent storms and flooding.

Thank you to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, and Governor DeWine for mobilizing these resources to help our communities rebuild, repair, and recover.

This morning, I gathered with representatives from FEMA, SBA, Ohio EMA, and Muskingum County EMA at the Emergency Operations Center in Zanesville as they begin expedited preliminary assessments of the damage caused by this month’s floods.

Since the storms hit, I’ve been urging state and federal officials to begin these assessments as soon as possible so people can begin to recover—and I’ll keep pushing to make sure our communities have the support and resources they need.
