Pickens County non-essential offices will be closed this Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day. This includes all recycle center locations. Recycling centers and all other non-essential offices will reopen with normal hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8. We hope you have a great and safe Labor Day weekend!

Leadership doesn’t always come with a handbook — especially when you’re a small business owner.

The Small Business Support Center is hosting a FREE workshop, Leadership Skills – Learning from Adversity, led by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), on Tuesday, Sept. 29. This workshop will introduce leadership concepts that have been tested in challenging circumstances and explore ways you can apply them to your own small business.

Whether you’re managing your first employee or looking for better ways to work with your team and customers, you’ll gain practical insight into becoming a more effective leader.

Help the Pickens County Airport maintain runway safety and support their wildlife management program by purchasing a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of four bow hunting sites. Please note all entrants must be a Pickens County resident and are required to provide proof of completion of a hunter safety course regardless of age. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the Pickens County Airport during the following dates and times:

Monday, Aug. 17 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 18 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 19 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 20 | 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 21 | 8 a.m. - noon

Raffle drawing will be held on Friday Aug. 21 at noon at the Pickens County Airport.
