Yesterday, six of our officers attended the funeral service for Corporal Timothy O’Connor Jr. The services were an exceptional tribute to a truly great man that was taken far too soon. These services often come with a cascade of mixed emotions. You see officers you haven’t seen since your days at the academy while meeting new ones from around the country. You stand at attention in the 25 degree weather because it means something to be there for each other. You listen to the “last radio call”, the 21 gun salute and the playing of bagpipes while holding back tears. You know all of this going into the day but you wouldn’t have it any other way. It is important to show up for those who show up for everyone else.

What was unexpected was the number of people that lined the procession route. Men, women and children lining the sides of Route 322 while waving flags, openly praying, waving, holding homemade signs for Cpl. O’Connor or law enforcement as a whole. It brought more than a few tears to the eyes of those in the procession.

Thank you to every one of those people that showed up to support Cpl. O’Connor. If it meant that much to us, we can only imagine what the family felt.

Thank you to all of our residents for your kind words and generosity over the last 10 days. It is an incredible feeling to know that when we’re feeling down, you’re there to pick us up. We appreciate you!

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that construction will begin on Wednesday on a project to improve safety along Route 23 (Schuylkill Road/Nutt Road/Valley Forge Road).

The project spans from Route 724 (Schuylkill Road) to Whitehorse Road in East Pikeland and Schuylkill townships, and Phoenixville Borough.

This safety improvement project encompasses 11 signalized intersections along the corridor. It includes widening and restriping the eastbound Route 23 approach to create a dedicated left-turn lane at the intersection with Township Line Road, as well as milling and overlaying this intersection.

Additionally, the project involves removing existing median islands and reconfiguring the Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Route 113 (Bridge Street) intersection within the current road layout, along with milling and overlaying the intersection.

Beginning Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 20, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 3:00 AM the following morning as needed, a weekday periodic lane closure with flagging will be in place on Route 23 (Schuylkill Road) at the intersection with Township Line Road for milling and paving.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

H&K Group Inc. of Skippack is the general contractor on the $2.5 million project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Physical construction on the project is expected to finish in the fall of 2026.

For more information on the project, visit the Route 23 Corridor Safety Improvements project page.

Sorry to start your weekend off with a bang…..against a solid metal bridge. Pawlings Road will be tied up for a while.

**The road is open as of 10:11am**

We need another snow storm like we need a lower bridge on Pawlings Road. But here we are putting up a post similar to the post we put up three weeks ago about the last storm, all while watching the sun set on what felt like a beautiful spring day. Pennsylvania weather is weird.

Anyway, please be sure to move your cars into your driveways by noon tomorrow so the plows can get through. Check in on your neighbors when clearing the snow as this round will feature more of that heavy, back-breaking-while-shoveling snow. We will have officers on duty (it’s kind of our thing to be available no matter the weather) so if you need something, call:

800-841-4141 for power outages

610-935-2440 for non-emergencies

911 for emergencies

Ghostbusters for paranormal activity

Carly Rae Jepsen but only if you really feel like it…or don’t

STPD Out!

PS - Sorry about all the typos! Facebook guy put this post up while trying to tell his children that French fries go in your mouth and not in your nose. Prayers for anyone who will have their kids home on Monday or Tuesday due to the weather.
