🚨 Captured: Escapee Apprehended in Phoenixville 🚨

Earlier today, Corporal Gray of the Phoenixville Police Department recognized the wanted escapee from East Pikeland Township inside the Wawa on Nutt Road. Acting quickly and courageously, Corporal Gray engaged in a foot pursuit, leading to the subject’s capture.

We extend our sincere thanks to the numerous agencies who immediately responded and assisted in the search and apprehension efforts — including the Pennsylvania State Police, East Pikeland Township Police, East Vincent Police, Tredyffrin Police, Upper Uwchlan Police, Spring City Police, East Whiteland Police, Easttown Police, Willistown Police, Royerford Police, Upper Providence Police, and Schuylkill Township Police.

Your teamwork and professionalism exemplify the strength of law enforcement cooperation across Chester County and beyond.

If we inadvertently missed any department that provided assistance today, please know your help was appreciated and did not go unnoticed.

Excellent work by all involved — and a special commendation to Corporal Gray for his alertness and decisive action that brought this incident to a safe conclusion.

**update: ROAD HAS REOPENED - BRIDGE STREET HEADING TOWARDS UPPER PROVIDENCE**

The police are in the process of closing Bridge St heading across the river in an effort to assist Upper Providence Township with traffic control. A truck is wedged under the railroad underpass.

If you’re headed to Montco via Route 29 across the bridge, you need to find an alternate route such as Route 113 or Route 23 to Pawlings Road.

To be clear, if your truck doesn’t fit the height requirement of the Pawlings Road underpass, DO NOT GO THAT WAY. We shouldn’t have to say that but we do. 🤷‍♀️ If you get stuck, we’re totally making memes about you.

Drive safely!

⚠️⛈️ There is a Moderate Risk (3/4) of excessive rainfall leading to flash flooding beginning this afternoon into tonight. Numerous flash floods can be anticipated across portions of the region due to scattered thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall.

The Flood Watch was expanded to include a majority of our area (see comments for Flood Watch map). A few isolated severe thunderstorms with damaging winds are possible, but the main threat will be flash flooding of urbanized and poor drainage areas, small streams, and creeks.

There will be chances of showers and thunderstorms each day this week. Remain alert for changing weather conditions, and have a reliable, trustworthy source to receive warnings should they be issued. And remember, NEVER drive through flooded roads! Turn Around, Don't Drown.

See our latest briefing package for more details on these threats:https://www.weather.gov/media/phi/current_briefing.pdf
