Sahuaro Elementary School Elementary School Sahuaro provides students with a rich curriculum aligned to Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards.

Sahuaro Elementary School, in the Washington Elementary School District, serves almost 600 preschool through sixth grade children in the neighborhood bordered by Thunderbird Road on the North and Cactus Road on the South, from 35th Avenue to the I-17 freeway. Sahuaro teachers strive to utilize effective teaching strategies to actively engage students in their lessons and build student engagement i

n the learning process. Sahuaro staff work diligently to inspire students to follow school-wide behavior expectations through modeling and practicing those behaviors. At Sahuaro Elementary, we are committed to our Continuous Improvement Plan, which focuses on instructional practices. Staff will be building our reading intervention plan and data discussions to make decisions to best meet the needs of all students every day. Staff will also work together to implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) model, providing students with targeted, data-driven academic support. Teacher instructional strategies will continue to improve with a focus on increased student engagement and academic growth for all. Teachers will also continue working on math instructional strategies to build a strong understanding for all students.

Our superhero families came out ready to learn, connect, and see all the amazing things happening in our classrooms! 🦸‍♀️📚✨

From learning about the year ahead to enjoying our foam party and delicious treats, it was a SUPER night filled with fun, laughter, and memories! 🫧🍕🧋

Our 6th grade scientists have begun exploring Particles in Motion! 🔬⚛️

This week, students participated in a gallery walk, collaborating with classmates and analyzing different concepts related to how particles move and interact. Through discussion, observation, and critical thinking, they are building a strong foundation in physical science while engaging in hands-on learning.

Come eat pizza and play games for Sahuaro this Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the Peter Piper Pizza Metro location. There will be lots of fun, and 15% of all the food, drink, and funpass game sales will go to benefit our school!

🌈 Kindergarten is learning all about colors today! 🎨💧

Our little learners had so much fun with the water walk, watching colors travel along the paper towels and mix together to create brand-new colors. What a fun, hands-on way to explore and learn! 💙💛❤️

Did you know that chess is one of the many clubs and activities offered here at Sahuaro? ♟️

Today, students had the opportunity to meet the chess coach during lunch and learn more about the club. Most students brought home a paper with information on how to join, or they will be bringing one home on Monday.

Today was Day 4 of Kindergarten, and we celebrated with YELLOW DAY! 💛 Our little kindergarteners have had so much fun showing their school spirit all week, and we are so proud of them!

🎒🤪 Wacky Wednesday was a huge success at Sahuaro! Our students showed off their creativity during our Anything But a Backpack Day, finding some of the most unique and hilarious ways to carry their school supplies. From laundry baskets to wagons and everything in between, the imagination was endless! Thank you to our families for helping make this day so much fun.
