This summer, the need has been greater than anyone anticipated.

Through UMOM’s Summer Family Heat Relief program, created in partnership with the City of Phoenix, AZ USA, as of Aug. 25 we’ve already served 222 households, including 449 children, with safe, 24/7 emergency shelter, meals, hygiene essentials, and supportive services during Arizona’s extreme heat. Demand continues to grow, and we now expect to serve more than 300 families and 1,000 individuals before the program concludes.

We're grateful to the City of Phoenix and our community partners for helping us respond to this urgent need, but the work is far from over. Every family deserves a safe place to sleep, especially when overnight temperatures remain dangerously high.

Unlike traditional daytime cooling centers, UMOM offers 24-hour emergency shelter, meals, hygiene items and a support staff seven days a week.

Building stronger communities starts with meaningful conversations. 💙 UMOM CEO Monique Lopez, MS recently participated in a Q&A at the@Arizona Department of Housing's 2026 Arizona Housing Forum, sharing insights on housing stability, partnerships, and the work being done to help families experiencing homelessness build brighter futures. Thank you to ADOH for convening leaders dedicated to expanding housing opportunities throughout Arizona.

Our Chief Development Officer, Ashley Oakley, recently shared our mission and participated in a leadership panel at the J.W. Marriott’s Women of Food & Beverage event.

The event’s focus was especially meaningful to UMOM because of our Homegrown Culinary Training program, which empowers women and other participants with hands-on culinary training, industry experience and a pathway toward lasting employment and financial stability.

When businesses invest in their communities, lives are changed.

A special shout-out to Sundt Construction, Inc. for their recent visit to UMOM and their incredible support of our mission. During their tour of campus, team members learned more about the programs that help families overcome homelessness and create lasting stability.

Their impact didn't stop there. Sundt Construction presented UMOM with a $20,000 donation, volunteered in our Threads of Hope Clothing Closet, and provided generous donations of clothing and costumes that will directly benefit the families and children we serve!
