At today's meeting, UPC voted unanimously to oppose Prop 320 because it puts unnecessary budget limitations on public school districts. Prop 320 requires public school districts to put 60% of their total budget towards "direct instruction" expenses which is a very narrow definition. School nurses, transportation, cafeteria staff, math and reading specialists, School Resource Officers, librarians, speech and occupational therapy are just a few of the important items that are NOT included in the 60%.
