As you head to Arizona’s lakes, rivers, and streams to cool off this holiday weekend, remember to watch out for Harmful Algal Blooms.

Harmful algal blooms (HABs) that could make you and your pets sick. Look out for water that:

👃 Smells bad
👀 Looks discolored
🤔 Has foam, scum, algal mats, or paint-like streaks on the surface
🦴 Has dead fish or other animals washed up on its shore or beach

Last month, shops helped repair 231 vehicles, saving drivers more than $174,780 and reducing air pollution by 15.63 tons.

- ADEQ Releases Annual Underground Storage Tank (UST) Preapproval Process Report🛢️

About half of Arizona facilities cleaning up UST fuel leaks receive financial support from ADEQ to help with the costs.

When a UST leaks, it’s important to quickly fix the issue and clean up the contamination. ADEQ helps Arizona UST owners fund cleanups so we can keep Arizona's soil and groundwater safe.

This year's Preapproval Program highlights:
✅ 91 facilities participating in the program
✅ 37 applicants receiving financial support
✅ $18.2M in funding preapproved
✅ $6.3M reimbursed for cleanup costs
✅ $11.9M obligated for future work
