The Phoenix Legacy Foundation Donates $2,000 to Helping Hands of Freedom.

At the Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce networking luncheon on September 23, 2025, the Phoenix Legacy Foundation proudly presented a $2,000 donation to Helping Hands of Freedom.

This contribution will directly support Helping Hands of Freedom’s mission to provide programs and resources that assist military children and families facing hardship due to loss, deployment, or injury.

The Phoenix Legacy Foundation remains committed to strengthening our community and honoring those who serve.

Meet civilian Veteran Champion, Arizona’s aerospace engineer and Axom Integrated Solutions CEO, Chad Knauer. He has years of first-hand experience working alongside Veterans in the aerospace industry.

In a recent conversation, he framed the value of Veteran talent like this, “they have all the behaviors we need.” Digging deeper, he described these behaviors as fundamental leadership skills, the ability to navigate, organize and overcome VUCA (Volatile Uncertain Complex and Ambiguous) situations using logic, developing tactical strategies and clearly communicating to team members what needs to be done. Today is Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Day. Do you tend to think most Veterans have PTSD?

If you do, you are misinformed. The National Center for PTSD reports that PTSD varies by era of conflict:
* Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans: About 20%.
* Gulf War (Desert Storm): About 12%
* Vietnam War: About 30% have had PTSD sometime in their lifetime.

Please do your part to bust the common misconception that most Veterans have PTSD!
When ⅔ of Americans experience some kind of trauma in their lifetime and less than 1% of Americans serve in the armed forces, it is more likely that you will meet a civilian who has PTSD than a veteran.
