Meet our team!
This is Theresa Wilkinson our Operations Coordinator!

Theresa joined the Arizona Burn Foundation in August 2019 after graduating from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University in May 2019 with a Bachelors in Business Management. She grew up volunteering with nonprofits in the East Valley and developed a passion for helping others. This led to her desire to enter the nonprofit sector upon finishing her degree. She loves improving the Foundation’s operations while supporting its mission: prevent, survive, and thrive!

Our Smoke Alarm Walk in Buckeye is THIS Saturday!
Our Community Smoke Alarm program brings together volunteers and firefighters to install 10-year, battery sealed, dual-sensor smoke alarms and Deaf and Hard of Hearing smoke alarm systems in high-risk households throughout communities in Arizona.

You are placed in groups and given the necessary tools, training, and materials to install and educate residents about burn prevention and fire safety. This is a great family- friendly opportunity to make a difference preventing home fire deaths and burn injuries for Arizona children and adults.

For more information or to schedule your local Community Smoke Alarm Walk in your community, contact [email protected]. You may also sign up to volunteer for a smoke alarm event.

What is the “Continuum of Care Model”?
Burn injuries leave behind physical and emotional scarring. Arizona Burn Foundation employs a comprehensive Continuum of Care Model, helping individuals who have sustained a burn injury not only survive but to thrive. With holistic supportive services, Arizona Burn Foundation aims to support burn survivors as they reclaim their identity and navigate all phases of their healing.

At the end of May 2024, during an accident burning trash at home, Mark burned his right leg and hand. After being admitted to the Arizona Burn Center twice, Mark discharged home, about an hour away.

As a retired individual on a fixed income, Mark expressed needing help with transportation to get to his follow up appointments with the Burn Clinic. Since then, ABF has continued to assist Mark to make sure he gets to those appointments.

After the injury on his hand healed, Mark got right back into his hobby of woodworking and made three art pieces for ABF to show his appreciation. This is one of them!

He shared that delving into his art has been a helpful distraction while he manages complications of his injuries. Mark has graciously agreed to donate some art pieces to the silent auction at this year’s Festival of Trees!

We love seeing our Burn Survivors having the ability to get back to doing what they love most!
